One of the factors that influences the recognition ability of a neural network is the initial values given to the weight vector during the training phase. The network may be trapped into a local minima if the initial weights are not chosen carefully. This paper presents an analysis of the ability of the network to recognise Jawi characters after it was trained using different methods of weight initialization. Three most common methods are zero, random and Nguyen-Widrow random. This paper presents the effect of these three methods on the ability of the network's recognition

2016Daen Manala Deppalangge (E 111 11 263), Ability Ramlan Badawi in\ud winning local elections in Mamasa 2013. Under the guidance\ud Prof.Dr.Muh. Kausar Bailusy, MA and Ariana Yunus, S. IP, M.SI.\ud At the local elections in Mamasa In 2013, H. Ramlan Abdullah with\ud Victor Paotonan worked out to be the winner of the democratic party. H.\ud Ramlan Abdullah along with his partner capable of beating six (6) other\ud candidates only in one round by a vote fairly high, even a difference of votes\ud of the candidate who finished second in the final result is very much KPU\ud recapitulation. The vote which is owned by Hope tagline of H.Ramlan Badawi\ud and Victor Paotonan 38.8% of the vote there, while the votes held by\ud candidates who are in the second position as much as 22.9%. With the vote\ud shows that H.Ramlan Badawi with his partner won a landslide victory by a\ud margin that is very far from the other candidates.\ud This study aims to describe and analyze the actions performed by\ud H.Ramlan Badawi as a political actor who is able to achieve political ideals\ud became regent elected in the elections of 2013. H.Ramlan Badawi as the\ud winner in the election is in fact a Muslim to become regent elected in a\ud majority Christian area. He was also able to gain a victory which is very\ud reassuring. The author conducted a case study on the basis of qualitative\ud research. Data were collected by interviewing informants who are considered\ud able to understand the attitude and actions made by political actors, as well\ud as providing some written references such as data from relevant agencies.\ud The results showed that H.Ramlan Badawi to become a winner in the\ud elections because of his status as a candidate other than the incumbent as\ud well as its ability to choose the right partner. H.Ramlan Badawi chose the\ud figure of Victor Paotonan as a companion for the figure of Victor Paotonan\ud who are prominent figures and ecclesiastical figures in Mamasa. Additionally,\ud H.Ramlan Badawi to become a candidate is elected because of his ability in\ud mastering the campaign process. Due to the content and delivery process\ud that is able to be digested easily by people who are interleaved with the\ud capabilities of both the capabilities of its symbolic status as incumbent and\ud other symbols

Hybrid expert system of rough set and neural network

    Get PDF
The combination of neural network and expert system can accelerate the process of inference, and then rapidly produce associated facts and consequences. However, neural network still has some problems such as providing explanation facilities, managing the architecture of network and accelerating the training time. Thus to address these issues we develop a new method for pre-processing based on rough set and merge it with neural network and expert system. The resulting system is a hybrid expert system model called a Hybrid Rough Neural Expert System (HRNES)

Cellular automata based user authentication scheme using identity-bits commitment for wireless sensor network

    Get PDF
In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) communication, authentication between the communicating nodes is an important aspect and has gained intensive interest from the researcher all around the world. With the advance of the technology where the communication devices are all in small form factor, high speed and low cost authentication scheme for generating Message Authentication Code (MAC) is definitely a demand. This paper introduces a new fast and lightweight authentication scheme based on Cellular Automata (CA) utilizing a so called Identity-bits Commitment embedded in a temper resistance chip inside the wireless sensors. The security analysis shows that our scheme is secure against thwart replay attack and lightweight for fast implementation

A proposal for improving AES S-box with rotation and key-dependent

    Get PDF
In this paper, a new AES-like design for key-dependent AES using S-box rotation is proposed. We also show how this property can be used to make the S-box key-dependent hence make the AES stronger. The cipher structure resembles the original AES, only the S-box is made key-dependent without changing the value. This new design is tested using the NIST Statistical Test and will be further cryptanalyzed with algebraic attack in order to permit its subversion or evasion

Dynamic Bayesian networks and variable length genetic algorithm for designing cue-based model for dialogue act recognition

    Get PDF
The automatic recognition of dialogue act is a task of crucial importance for the processing of natural language dialogue at discourse level. It is also one of the most challenging problems as most often the dialogue act is not expressed directly in speaker's utterance. In this paper, a new cue-based model for dialogue act recognition is presented. The model is, essentially, a dynamic Bayesian network induced from manually annotated dialogue corpus via dynamic Bayesian machine learning algorithms. Furthermore, the dynamic Bayesian network's random variables are constituted from sets of lexical cues selected automatically by means of a variable length genetic algorithm, developed specifically for this purpose. To evaluate the proposed approaches of design, three stages of experiments have been conducted. In the initial stage, the dynamic Bayesian network model is constructed using sets of lexical cues selected manually from the dialogue corpus. The model is evaluated against two previously proposed models and the results confirm the potentiality of dynamic Bayesian networks for dialogue act recognition. In the second stage, the developed variable length genetic algorithm is used to select different sets of lexical cues to constitute the dynamic Bayesian networks' random variables. The developed approach is evaluated against some of the previously used ranking approaches and the results provide experimental evidences on its ability to avoid the drawbacks of the ranking approaches. In the third stage, the dynamic Bayesian networks model is constructed using random variables constituted from the sets of lexical cues generated in the second stage and the results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approaches for designing dialogue act recognition model

A web service is a web-based application connected via the internet connectivity. The common web-based applications are deployed using web browsers and web servers. However, the security of Web Service is a major concern issues since it is not widely studied and integrated in the design stage of Web Service standard. They are add-on modules rather a well-defined solutions in standards. So, various web services security solutions have been defined in order to protect interaction over a network. Remote attestation is an authentication technique proposed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) which enables the verification of the trusted environment of platforms and assuring the information is accurate. To incorporate this method in web services framework in order to guarantee the trustworthiness and security of web-based applications, a new framework called TrustWeb is proposed. The TrustWeb framework integrates the remote attestation into SSL/TLS protocol to provide integrity information of the involved endpoint platforms. The framework enhances TLS protocol with mutual attestation mechanism which can help to address the weaknesses of transferring sensitive computations, and a practical way to solve the remote trust issue at the client-server environment. In this paper, we describe the work of designing and building a framework prototype in which attestation mechanism is integrated into the Mozilla Firefox browser and Apache web server. We also present framework solution to show improvement in the efficiency level
