“Mind the Gap”: One dilemma concerning the expansion of legal subjectivity in the age of globalisation’
Addressing the important idea of the legal subjectivity of a range of putative new rights-claimants,the author argues that globalisation needs to form the matrix within which debates concerning the rights of various new kinds of claimant is located, and that it is essential not to lose sight of the multitudes of persons, animals and living systems constructed as, in an important sense, 'outsiders' in relation to the globalising power structures of our age. The question of how we now construct a juridical order that is responsive, inclusive and possesses the plasticity to account for new and complex kinds of rights-holders needs to be rendered inseparable from the search for full juridical responsiveness to the visceral realities facing currently (and traditionally) excluded subjectivities

Crisis induced CSR innovation:: CSR implementation in B2B firms before and after COVID-19
Only recently has CSR literature moved beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and explored different contexts, characteristics, or sizes of the studied firms. CSR in SMEs is unique, due to the peculiar characteristics of Small and Medium Sized firms. Literature in the CSR initiatives of B2B firms is even more limited. We aim to contribute to the literature by focusing on CSR in B2B SMEs. We do so via a longitudinal study. With extensive interviews of 24 B2B firms prior and after the COVID-19 Pandemic we explore i) how CSR differs between small and larger B2B firms, and ii) how can a crisis, such as the one caused due to COVID-19 affect these firms' implementation, motivation, and outcome of their CSR strategy. Our findings contribute to various streams of literature including B2M marketing, crises management and responsible innovations
SME corporate social responsibility and competitiveness: a literature review
The importance of SMEs to the economy and society and their special characteristics relevant to the adoption of CSR principles, the implementation of CSR activities, and the study of the relationship between SME, CSR behaviour and competitiveness, have stimulated the interest of both practitioners and academicians. The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the literature addressing SME CSR behaviour and competitiveness. The paper summarises the major trends emerging from the literature review and provides recommendations for further research
Virtuous circle : human capital and human resource management in social enterprises
The majority of the extant research on human resource management (HRM) draws conclusions based on evidence from for-profit organizations. In response to calls for the exploration of HRM in different contexts, this study focuses on understanding HRM in the context of social enterprises. The unique context of social enterprises and their unique workforce raise questions about the direct applicability of frameworks developed from examining HRM in for-profit organizations. The narratives provided by 20 CEOs, HR directors, and managers of social enterprises in the United Kingdom highlight the importance of “ethics of care” as the core of the HRM-related decisions in the “third sector.” In addition, we identify five distinct workforce categories and propose a typology of differentiated HRM systems that enable social enterprises to achieve their dual mission. Finally, we propose a “virtuous circle” model, highlighting “ethics of care” as the main driver for organizational outcomes, using differentiated HRM systems that better serve their needs
Solon.
The fragment 36 W., often mentioned in the context of the discussion about the Solonian "seisachtheia", offers a highly interesting piece of evidence to understand how Solon conceives the act of law-marking. Starting from a traditional view of justice and putting Hesiod's myths to a new use, the author explains his action not in theological terms — unlike Hesiod — , but in political ones : norm does not derive from a divine instance, but is viewed as an act of judgment. The legislator, qua legislator, takes the place of the divine in so far as he becomes the only source of law. This exceptional position exposes Solon the man to the hostility of his fellow-citizens and does probably account for the temporary failure of his political action. Blaise Fabienne. The dark side of companies’ digital transformation:the carbon footprint of online activities
PurposeWe aim to explore the negative side of the digital transformation of firms by focusing on the carbon footprint of consumers’ everyday behaviours online.Design/methodology/approachA multi-method approach was employed. We collected data from interviews with experts, a netnographic study of online users and in-depth interviews with sustainability-minded consumers before and after an intervention. Data were analysed by employing sequence analysis.FindingsFindings suggest that even among sustainability-minded individuals, knowledge of the carbon footprint of online activities is very low. Upon being educated about it, however, consumers responded in a few different ways, which are showcased here.Originality/valueWe know very little about the social practices and consumer behaviour that influences the environmental outcome of digital actions. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this study is among the first to explore the mechanisms that affect consumer behaviour online and the role sustainability plays in shaping it
Doing the right thing or doing things right? The role of ethics of care and ethics of justice in human resource management of social enterprises
There is increasing research attention as to how SMEs might realize corporate social responsibility opportunities. The majority of studies focus on the pursuance of responsible business strategies that may result in favorable business outcomes, including better financial performance. This study investigates a sample of SMEs who actively participate in CSR activities in Greece. The role of the SME in developing CSR focused relationships with particular stakeholders is examined. Data collected reveals that stakeholder salience and proximity moderate these relationships and this leads to improved financial performance. The context of this study is important as it addresses the paucity of research carried out in countries during economic crisis and sheds light on the positive aspects of CSR that are adopted during crisis. Managerial suggestions are made and research implications are discussed.Υπάρχει αυξανόμενο ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον σχετικά με τρόπο με τον οποίο οι ΜΜΕ θα μπορούσαν να κερδίσουν από τις προσπάθειες εταιρικής κοινωνικής ευθύνης (ΕΚΕ) τους.
