Le interrogazioni scritte in lingua tedesca
The paper aims at identifying similarities and differences among three realisations of a text genre in German: parliamentary questions submitted to the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundestag) as well as original and translated questions tabled by MEPs in the European Parliament. The research questions concerned a) the influence of the national and supranational institutional context on various features of the text genre, and b) the presence of ‘translationese’ in the translated texts. After providing and briefly discussing
some lexicometric data, the contribution focuses on the lexical and textual
level, notably on nouns (compound nouns and nomina actionis), adjectives (with
positive or negative connotation) and connectives (conjunctive and pronominal
adverbs). The quantitative-qualitative analysis has shown substantial similarities
between the original and translated EU questions, thus confirming the role
played by the institutional context. On the contrary, the results refuted some initial
assumptions concerning the translated texts
Kreatives Übersetzen von Idiomen. Ein didaktisches Experiment
The present contribution aims at investigating the interrelation of creativity and level of competence in students of translation science. In order to find out whether creativity increases or decreases with the acquisition of more advanced competencies and skills in text analysis, translation and translation assessment, a didactic experiment was devised that involved students from different courses (both at Bachelor’s and Master’s level). The experiment focused on the translation of idiomatic expressions, which often pose a challenge for translators and are supposed to enhance creativity. The author first classified the translations according to a typology of correspondences, in order to assess the students’ degree of basic creativity. In a second step, the quality of the provided solutions was judged, in order to establish the degree of what has been termed successful creativity. The results are encouraging, although further studies are certainly needed

Nell'introduzione viene illustrato brevemente il progetto FRA “Sviluppo di una base di conoscenza terminologica multilingue in ambito giuridico” che ha portato alla pubblicazione e si approfondiscono alcuni temi quali l'orientamento della banca dati a diverse categorie di utenti, con le conseguenti scelte a livello terminografico, e le principali categorie di equivalenza interlinguistica
Realia in der ein- bzw. mehrsprachigen Museumskommunikation: das Beispiel „Volkskundemuseum“
This paper aims to examine the strategies for conveying regional culture-bound terms in monolingual and bilingual (or multilingual) texts and chooses a type of museum for which such terms are particularly important: the folk museum. After a brief overview of this type of museum in Italy and Germany (section 2), section 3 deals with culture-bound terms, their classification and the strategies for introducing them in texts. Section 4 presents the empirical analysis carried out on a corpus of texts from the websites of 10 Italian and 10 German or Austrian folk museums. The use of realia was examined first in the monolingual, then in the multilingual museum communication

La banca dati TERMitLEX: un nuovo modello interdisciplinare per la terminografia giuridica
Il volume raccoglie i contributi dei partecipanti al progetto “Sviluppo di una base di conoscenza terminologica multilingue in ambito giuridico”. Partendo dalle esperienze acquisite con la banca dati TERMit, avviata negli anni Novanta, e mettendo a frutto anche in quest’ambito la collaborazione tra linguisti e giuristi che caratterizza il Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche, del Linguaggio, dell’Interpretazione e della Traduzione (IUSLIT) dell’Università degli Studi di Trieste, il progetto è stato finalizzato a costituire TERMitLEX, una risorsa terminografica multilingue specifica per l’ambito giuridico che si rivolge non solo a traduttori, interpreti e altri linguisti, ma anche a studiosi, studenti e operatori del diritto
Variation in Terminologie, Terminographie und Phraseographie
The study of synonymy and other forms of variation has long been neglected by terminologists, due to the importance given to an ideal biunivocal correspondence between terms and concepts. In the last few years, however, a change of attitude has taken place: various authors have begun to question this principle and focus their attention on the actual behaviour of synonyms and variants, which are often encompassed under the more general term “variation”. After a brief discussion of such an evolution, the paper aims to show the solutions adopted in a translation-oriented term bank (TERMit) in order to describe, as exhaustively as possible, the differences and peculiarities in the use of coexisting designations. The last section illustrates how the same approach can be applied to the description of specialised phraseological expressions and in particular of fixed formulae. These, too, may take a number of different forms, which can be described as full synonyms, partial synonyms, and variants
