Perspektywy rozwoju biotechnologii w Polsce
Biotechnology uses biological processes in the development of technology or manufacture of a product. It is forecasted that Polish biotechnology industry will exceed very quickly. The technology and science parks in Poland have invested millions Euros to build new laboratories. Polish market is fuelled by increased R&D funding, central and regional governments initiatives. The article on “Polish perspectives of biotechnology development” identifies significant factors for biotechnology project development. It also indicates the examples of government biotechnology initiatives in the world. The author focuses on the statistical analysis of the research and development projects conducted by Polish scientist in scientific laboratories. His main conclusion is that biotechnology will be very important in developing Poland, Polish universities, research and development organizations.Udostępnienie publikacji Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego finansowane w ramach projektu „Doskonałość naukowa kluczem do doskonałości kształcenia”. NJBankers 2015 Economic Survey: Final Analysis and Report of Survey Findings
This is the fifth annual Economic Survey. The survey inquires about national and state current economic assessments, as well as six-month projections; expectations about long-term and short-term interest rates; commercial real estate submarket and loan demand; and residential loan and refinance demand. The survey also explores real estate values, currently and expected, as well as a set of negative indicators and common obstacles to lending. The survey series probes metrics about the national, state, and banking market economies in order to better understand, and, in turn, better facilitate the growth, development, and common interests of the banking sector in the state of New Jersey. Conducted by the Bloustein Center for Survey Research (BCSR) under the direction of James Hughes, Marc Weiner and BCSR senior research specialist Orin Puniello,Conducted for New Jersey Bankers Association"January 2015

'Sorry to have kept you waiting so long, Mr Macfarlane': Further education after the Coalition
This chapter focuses on the further education (FE) sector in England. Initially it gives an overview of the ‘condition’ of the FE sector and summarises of some of the main characteristics of the current Government’s approach to further education. The chapter locates the Coalition’s position on FE, and some of the key initiatives associated with this stance, within a broader social, economic and cultural context, before turning to the future of further education. Whilst I acknowledge that much will need to be done across all sectors of education after the Coalition loses power, it is argued that no one part of the education system – if indeed system is the correct term – operates in isolation; and that FE’s role and remit is strongly influenced, not only by the nature of the labour market and the economy more broadly, but by the relative status and position of universities, schools and other providers of education and training. Drawing on the ideals of the comprehensive movement and some of the recommendations made in the first draft of the often forgotten Macfarlane Report, the remainder of the chapter provides a vision for further education after the coalition by arguing that FE needs to be repositioned at the heart of a coherent system of tertiary education and play a key role in integrating academic with vocational learning. It finishes by offering a critical overview of the far-reaching cultural, structural and curricular changes that would be required, not only within the further education sector, but across other parts of the compulsory and post-compulsory education system, in order to enable this
"Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
Priorities and Principles for Investment in Aquaculture Research by NSW Department of Primary Industries
This review examined the characteristics of the main aquaculture industries in NSW with respect to current impediments to growth, market development and future opportunities. Within this context, it examined the nature, funding and impacts of the NSW Department of Primary Industries’ current and proposed investments in aquaculture R&D and industry development, as well as its alignment with DPI and industry priorities.aquaculture, research evaluation, public good, Agribusiness, Livestock Production/Industries, Research and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies, Q160,
Subsurface Visualization Using Ground-Penetrating Radar for Archaeological Site Preparation on the Northern Slope of Somma-Vesuvius: A Roman Site, Pollena Trocchia, Italy
The use of non-invasive geophysical techniques is becoming increasingly important in archaeological site studies as a means to increase the efficiency of excavation and to thereby avoid unnecessary disturbance. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys were performed over an orthogonal grid in order to guide the decision-making process for planning excavation at a Roman site in Pollena Trocchia (Italy), located just off the NW flank of Somma-Vesuvius. Archaeological planning for this site is complicated by contextual disruption and intermittent backfill, sometimes exacerbated by its proximity to building sites and by its use as a landfill, and by prior archaeological excavation and subsequent remediation. From a geophysical point of view, the site at Pollena Trocchia provided an ideal test-bed for visualization experiments (a) because the ground surface was readily cleared and smoothed by earth-moving machinery and (b) because the soil derived from geologically recent volcanic ash was dry at the time of the survey. State-of-the-art geophysical visualization techniques were applied to the pseudo-3D GPR data using conventional displays, seismic attribute analysis, and waveform connectivity schemes as employed in petroleum exploration. In this way, we assess the value of applying strategies adapted from industrial 3D seismic imaging to the problem of defining the effects of previous disturbance at a complex archaeological site
Observation of the W-annihilation decay D-s(+) -> omega pi(+) and evidence for D-s(+) -> omega K+
Kolcu, Onur Buğra (Arel Author)We report the observation of W-annihilation decay D-s(+) -> omega pi(+) and evidence for D-s(+) -> omega K+ in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb(-1) collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy root s = 4.178 GeV. We obtain the branching fractions B(D-s(+) -> omega pi(+)) = (1.77 +/- 0.32(stat) +/- 0.13(sys)) x 10(-3) with a significance of 6.7 sigma and B(D-s(+) -> omega K+) = (0.87 +/- 0.24(stat) +/- 0.08(sys)) x 10(-3) with a significance of 4.4 sigma. This measurement provides critical information to determine the nonperturbative W-annihilation amplitudes and shows the potential of searching for CP asymmetry in D-s(+) -> omega K+
