Characterisation of Bombyx mori odorant-binding proteins reveals that a general odorant-binding protein discriminates between sex pheromone components
In many insect species, odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) are thought to be responsible for the transport of pheromones and other semiochemicals across the sensillum lymph to the olfactory receptors (ORs) within the antennal sensilla. In the silkworm Bombyx mori, the OBPs are subdivided into three main subfamilies; pheromone-binding proteins (PBPs), general odorant-binding proteins (GOBPs) and antennal-binding proteins (ABPs). We used the MotifSearch algorithm to search for genes encoding putative OBPs in B. mori and found 13, many fewer than are found in the genomes of fruit flies and mosquitoes. The 13 genes include seven new ABP-like OBPs as well as the previously identified PBPs (three), GOBPs (two) and ABPx. Quantitative examination of transcript levels showed that BmorPBP1, BmorGOBP1, BmorGOBP2 and BmorABPx are expressed at very high levels in the antennae and so could be involved in olfaction. A new two-phase binding assay, along with other established assays, showed that BmorPBP1, BmorPBP2, BmorGOBP2 and BmorABPx all bind to the B. mori sex pheromone component (10E,12Z)-hexadecadien-1-ol (bombykol). BmorPBP1, BmorPBP2 and BmorABPx also bind the pheromone component (10E,12Z)-hexadecadienal (bombykal) equally well, whereas BmorGOBP2 can discriminate between bombykol and bombykal. X-ray structures show that when bombykol is bound to BmorGOBP2 it adopts a different conformation from that found when it binds to BmorPBP1. Binding to BmorGOBP2 involves hydrogen bonding to Arg110 rather than to Ser56 as found for BmorPBP1
Letter from T. Mori and J. Bruno to Hagan
Typescript letter signed [T.] Mori and J. Bruno, secretaries at the Congregation of the Council, to (Hagan). The College requested that half of the stipends for mass intentions sent from Ireland can be retained by the College because of its recent financial shortage. This was granted by Pius XI for three years

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR ADDITIVE LIGHT EXCITATION
The design and construction of the system with adjustable light excitation in the additive RGB color space is described in this diploma work. The system is connected to a PC via a USB interface for the purpose of the analysis of light response to a given light excitation. At the beginning of the diploma work basic concepts of light, RGB and CMYK color spaces and the operation of RGB LEDs are described. After that the development of our microcontroller system, its individual key blocks and associated software, separated on control program for our selected microcontroller and the control program on PC, are described. At the end the conclusion is given
Digitalisation of a business process for the ordering and purchasing of transportation
Na osnovi analize poslovnega procesa in izdelanih modelih poslovnega procesa (AS – IS in TO – BE) s pomočjo notacije BPMN v orodju Signavio smo razvili spletno rešitev za uporabnike, ki želijo naročiti prevoz. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the meaning and purpose of digitalising business processes, it presents the steps to digitalising the said process and describes the BPMN (Business Process Model And Notation) graphical notation for preparing models of business processes. As we developed the thesis, we set the goal of using the digitalisation of the business process of ordering and purchasing transportation services for the company Avtoprevozništvo Topler and thus helping the company become competitive with other similar companies in its respective market. By using the business process analysis and prepared business process models (AS – IS and TO – BE ) in the BPMN notation in the Signavio tool, we developed an online solution for users who want to order transportation. The solution offers various options, both for unregistered users (guests) and registered users, who can perform all the desired steps, from requesting a transportation estimate to purchasing transportation. The online solution also offers an easier way of checking reservations. After the final solution was completed, we verified the usability of the solution with the end user
Maximal non--Mori subrings of a ring
summary:Let be the set of all commutative rings with unity whose nilradical is a divided prime ideal. The concept of maximal non--Mori subrings of a ring is introduced to generalize the concept of maximal non-Mori subrings of domain. A proper subring of a ring is called a maximal non--Mori subring if is not a -Mori ring but each subring of properly containing is a -Mori ring
Contemporary Art in Japan and Cuteness in Japanese Popular Culture
This thesis is an art historical study focussing on contemporary Japan, and in particular the artists Murakami TakashL Mori Mariko, Aida Makoto, and Nara Yoshitomo. These artists represent a generation of artists born in the 1960s who use popular culture to their own ends. From the seminal exhibition 'Tokyo Pop' at Hiratsuka Museum of Art in 1996 which included all four artists, to Murakami's group exhibition 'Little Boy: The Arts of Japan's Exploding Subculture' which opened in April 2005, central to my research is an exploration of contemporary art's engagement with the pervasiveness of cuteness in Japanese culture.
Including key secondary material, which recognises cuteness as not merely something trivial but involving power play and gender role issues, this thesis undertakes an interdisciplinary analysis of cuteness in contemporary Japanese popular culture, and examines howcontemporary Japanese artists have responded, providing original research through interviews with Aida Makoto, Mori Mariko and Murakami Takashi. Themes examined include the deconstruction of the high and low in contemporary art; sh6jo (girl) culture and cuteness; the relation of cuteness and the erotic; the transformation of cuteness into the grotesque; cuteness and nostalgia; and virtual cuteness in Japanese science fiction animation, and computer games.
