Interpreting Quantum Entanglement. Steps Towards Coherentist Quantum Mechnanics
We put forward a new, ‘coherentist’ account of quantum entanglement, according to which
entangled systems are characterized by symmetric relations of ontological dependence among
the component particles. We compare this coherentist viewpoint with the two most popular
alternatives currently on offer—structuralism and holism—and argue that it is essentially different
from, and preferable to, both. In the course of this article, we point out how coherentism
might be extended beyond the case of entanglement and further articulated
Il DMDU per contrastare le fragilità climatiche. Un’integrazione con il progetto rigenerativo / How to tackle climate fragilities by DMDU. Making possible with regenerative design
The complex interaction between
city and climate crisis is converting
design-based disciplines from deterministic
to flexible approaches. In this regard,
Decision-Making Under Deep Uncertainty
(DMDU) methods and operational strategies
can be valuable support mechanisms
to cope with the emerging climate
fragilities of urban systems. In light of recent
advances in the field of adaptive approaches,
this paper discusses key concepts,
current limitations and the potential
to introduce the DMDU in the method
and practices of regenerative design. Our
critical discussion aims to restore the designer’s
role within the DMDU and to reduce
current and future climate fragilities
in European cities
What Ontology for Relational Quantum Mechanics?
In this paper, we evaluate some proposals that have been put forward to clarify the ontological consequences of relational quantum mechanics. We first focus on priority monism and ontic structural realism and argue that these views are not suitable for providing an ontological interpretation of the theory. Then, we discuss an alternative interpretation that we regard as more promising, based on so-called 'metaphysical coherentism', which we also connect to the idea of an event-based, or 'flash', ontology
