    Fragility fracture is the most important pathological event which has to be prevented in subjects affected by osteoporosis. While it was believed that Bone Mineral Density (BMD) could explain all fractures, clinical and preclinical data have shown that BMD cannot explain the pathological events involved in a fracture. In particular factors not previously considered, such as bone quality and bone remodelling of skeletal tissue appear to play a pivotal role in the onset of fragility fractures.
