No full textThis multilingual publication (Italian, Spanish, English) gathers together the texts presented during the homonymous international conference held at the Roma Tre Faculty of Architecture in Rome on the 12 and 13 November 2007, promoted and coordinated by Francesco Cellini, also the author of the first presentation, entitled “Le case Icp degli anni ’20 e ’30 a Roma: una tradizione di qualità” – “Iacp Public Housing from the 1920s and 30s in Rome: A Tradition of Quality”. The texts, in addition to that that by prof Cellini, also include presentations made by the Italian professors and researchers Stefano Cordeschi, Paolo Desideri, Luca Montuori and Ranieri Valli, together with those by illustrious foreign experts on housing: Frits van Dongen, Dick van Gameren, Floor Arons and Arnoud Gelauff from The Netherlands, and Andrés Canova and José Mata from Spain. The book is completed by a published transcription of the closing debate. The objective of the conference, strictly linked with the research into the theme of housing promoted by Francesco Cellini (see below, as well as the book: M. Farina (ed.), Studi sulla casa urbana: sperimentazioni e temi di progetto) was that of critically and directly reflecting on the rich quantity of research, studies and experiments related to this theme, offered by international contemporary architectural and professional culture
The article looks at the complex interactions between private and public operators in the construction of residential buildings with special and complex mix typological mode of allocation of housing in a variety of applications. In particular, analyzing the first concrete example of implementation of works related to the masterplan for the area of " Giustiniano Imperatore " in Rome, the author looks at the possible paths that preserves the the economic sustainability of the interventions for investors, together with the public interest in implementation of measures of quality in the consolidated city fabric
The Roman Campagna as a Paradigm of Contemporary Public Space
No full textThis work is part of a research programme being carried out by a team at the Roma Tre University, Dipartimento di Progettazione e Studio dell’Architettura (DIPSA), composed of Francesco Riccardo Ghio, Annalisa Metta and Luca Montuori.
The theme of this specific intervention is related to the necessity of re-examining the concept of public space, beginning with the development of new forms of urbanism that cannot be linked to classical configurations of the city. The research is defined through the observation of a number of Roman case studies, involving projects for areas that, while planned, represent the extreme absence of programmed urban growth and where there is an evident necessity to reflect on the very meaning of public space in these same areas.
The study begins in an observation of the continuity of this theme throughout twentieth century research, and of new disciplinary interactions between architecture, city, territory and landscape

No full textRecensione della riedizione del testo Precisions: la nuova edizione apre un nuovo percorso di interpretazione sul modo di comunicare l’architettura che si offre oggi a una riflessione molto attuale. E’ questo il nodo, che va ben oltre il dato filologico, che questa edizione permette di affrontare e la riflessione che ci offre grazie a una nuova serie di interpretazioni, note, disegni e schizzi inediti, riscoperta di appunti che non sempre furono trasformati in tavole per il pubblico. Nuovi elementi che permettono nuove chiavi di lettura, analisi e riflessioni metodologiche che rivelano le strategie, il progetto divulgativo, la capacità e le modalità di comunicare il pensiero. Non quindi un momento creativo con disegni improvvisati e discorsi a braccio, come lo stesso Le Corbusier voleva far pensare il suo modo di parlare in pubblico, ma elementi di un progetto integrale di cui oggi possiamo interpretare una nuova parte

No full textL’articolo descrive le vicende legate al concorso per la realizzazione del fabbricato di testa della Stazione termini di Roma. La storia della realizzazione dell’edificio è analizzata a partire dai primi progetti dell’architetto Angiolo Mazzoni e dai vincoli che dalla sua impostazione derivarono al concorso e al progetto che ne seguì. Il concorso rappresentava una delle prime grandi occasioni di confronto per la cultura architettonica italiana nel dopoguerra che portò circa 40 gruppi di progettisti a confrontarsi sul tema. Molte polemiche seguirono la scelta dei progetti vincitori.
Attraverso testi e disegni contenuti negli archivi dei progettisti, confrontando le diverse soluzioni proposte nella prima e nella seconda fase dal gruppo vincitore e dai diversi partecipanti, recuperando e confrontando progetti precedenti, l’obiettivo dello scritto è di analizzare in maniera dettagliata alcuni fatti che spesso ignorati nelle vicende architettoniche dell’ambiente romano e di conseguenza italiano che portarono alla costruzione di uno degli edifici più importanti del dopoguerra realizzati a Roma.The issue addressed the events connected with the the construction of the new passenger building of the Termini station in Rome critically re-reading, after many years, the various projects submitted to the competition. The Stazione Termini competition has been one of the most important competitions of the post-war time in Italy. More than 40 groups of architects and engineers had a confrontation about the legacy with italian and european modern architecture.
The issue looks at roman cultural climate comparing different selected projects of the competition; examines, through pictures original drawings and writings, the main ideas of the winning project looking at the design process and the realization of the building; retrieves documents and infromations from the archives of winning architects group ; focuses on different aspects not analyzed in the past
