Placement and Floorplanning in Dynamically Reconfigurable FPGAs

    No full text
The aim of this article is to describe a complete partitioning and floorplanning algorithm tailored for reconfigurable architectures deployable on FPGAs and considering communication infrastructure feasibility. This article proposes a novel approach for resource- and reconfiguration- aware floorplanning. Different from existing approaches, our floorplanning algorithm takes specific physical constraints such as resource distribution and the granularity of reconfiguration possible for a given FPGA device into account. Due to the introduction of constraints typical of other problems like partitioning and placement, the proposed approach is named floorplacer in order to underline the great differences with respect to traditional floorplanners. These physical constraints are typically considered at the later placement stage. Different aspects of the problems have been described, focusing particularly on the FPGAs resource heterogeneity and the temporal dimension typical of reconfigurable systems. Once the problem is introduced a comparison among related works has been provided and their limits have been pointed out. Experimental results proved the validity of the proposed approach

The Pottesman Collection in the British Museum. Early Dynastic and Sargonic administrative texts. With an Appendix on a Palmyrene Inscription

Edizione, trascrizione, traduzione e commento di un frammento di iscrizione palmirena inedita presente nella collezione Pottesman del British Museum (Appendice Agostini). The British Museum houses a small collection of six cuneiform tablets and a Palmyrene dedicatory inscription purchased in 1987 from the private collection of Solomon Pottesman. The aim of the present contribution is to provide a catalog of this lot and an edition of the so far unpublished cuneiform texts. In the appendix, Alessio Agostini added the edition of the Palmyrene inscription, which would have otherwise gone beyond the capabilities of the present author

With this volume, Annals of Geophysics proudly presents a special issue dedicated to celebrating the anniversary of Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) for its “25 years of geosciences for society”. This collection of scientific articles is authored by dedicated researchers whose active participation and collaboration have brought prestige to both INGV and our journal. Although the list of authors is not exhaustive among the numerous past and present INGV collaborators, it offers an exciting and insightful journey through the fields of seismology, volcanology, and environmental science. This volume is divided into three parts: the first is dedicated to topics more closely related to seismology, the second to volcanology, and the last part is focused on environmental issues, including both review articles and articles addressing specific problems. There are contributions dedicated to the study of tsunamis and multi-hazard analyses, as well as, articles on the history of globally significant infrastructure and sections focused on the most widely used seismological models.   Enjoy your reading

Handheld-Impedance-Measurement System with seven-decade capability and potentiostatic function

    Get PDF
This paper describes design and test of a new impedance-measurement system for nonlinear devices that exhibits a seven-decade range and works down to a frequency of 0.01 Hz. The system is specifically designed for electrochemical measurements, but the proposed architecture can be employed in many other fields where flexible signal generation and analysis are required. The system employs an unconventional signal generator based on two pulsewidth modulation (PWM) oscillators and an autocalibration system that allows uncertainties of less than 3% to be obtained over a range of 1 kΩ to 100 GΩ. A synchronous demodulation processing allows the noise superimposed to the low-amplitude input signals to be made negligibl
