No full textFernando Arrabal is a Spanish author - actually, no, he isn't. He is a francophone writer, or, more accurately, a Spanish expatriate. Or, on the contrary, he is a traitor, an «afrancesado». In this paper Fernando Arrabal's case will be used as an example of the difficulties that an author has to face when he leaves his own country and moves to another different from a spatial, cultural, and linguistic point of view. Besides, I will analyze the unusual position of the critic in the reception and interpretation of a corpus that, while being obviously connected to its author, cannot refer to a precise national context

Implementing a guarateed minimum income in Italy: an empirical analysis of costs and political feasibility
No full textIn this paper we analyse a hypothetical welfare reform that would introduce a Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) in Italy, the only country of the pre-enlargement EU-15 where a programme of this type does not exist. First we compute the overall cost of a GMI under different assumptions about its generosity and adjustments for differences in the cost of living. Then, we discuss alternative options to finance the additional resources needed to implement the programme. Finally, we present an analysis of winners and losers from such reform and we discuss the type of preferences for redistribution that would be required to obtain political support for a GMI from the majority of the voting population

No full textNei racconti e nei romanzi di Bolaño affiora continuamente il motivo del limite, a partire dalla concreta presenza di confini geografici e di personaggi che li attraversano, o che tentano di attraversarli, in una narrazione in cui il peso cronotopico di tale limite è spesso determinante per lo svolgersi dei fatti e per una loro interpretazione (il confine tra Stati Uniti e Messico, concentrato soprattutto nella città di Santa Teresa, quello tra Sudamerica e Europa, quello che separa la città da ciò che sta al suo esterno).
Di qui si sviluppa una riflessione sul confine che va oltre il mero dato geografico, arrivando a comprendere soglie di altro genere, di cui i personaggi di Bolaño sono assidui frequentatori: quelle tra la verità e la finzione, tra il sogno e la realtà, tra un al di qua e un al di là sempre di difficile definizione. In particolare questo intervento si vuole concentrare sul rapporto tra la dimensione reale e quella onirica: tra i due mondi si instaura un dialogo costante in quasi tutte le opere dell'autore cileno, secondo dei meccanismi cruciali per la costruzione della diegesi, al punto da mettere in discussione lo statuto stesso di realtà

both by the necessity to circumvent Spanish censorship and by his personal
