Redesign of Supply Chain in Fashion Industry based on Strategic Engineering
This paper proposes the innovative approach of Strategic Engineering to Fashion Industry in order to redesign the Supply Chain of Medium Size Enterprises active in high quality Made in Italian women's footwear and how this innovative approach could support enhancements and improvements over multiple target functions. The paper introduces the approach and proposes the framework as example of how combining Modeling and Simulation, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in closed loop with real data it could be possible to support Decision Makers in re-engineering processes and redesigning business models even in Small Medium Size Enterprises devoted to high quality production. Enabling strategic decisions for the industry of tomorrow
The paper proposes an innovative approach related to the use of Strategic Engineering, new discipline combining Simulation, AI (Artificial Intelligence) & Data Analytics, to support decision making in Industries thanks to the support of the paradigm Industry 4.0. The paper proposes demonstrations of this approach effectiveness through examples and case studies related to different industrial sectors, including Industrial Plant Engineering, Iron & Steel, Oil & Glass and Hollow Glass
Infrastructures protection based on heterogeneous networks
This paper presents a modelling approach for mapping cyber defence issues with respect to heterogeneous networks; the research is devoted to develop an agent-driven simulation environment able to analyse this problem considering different layers including CIS capabilities, operational issues, system architecture, management processes and human factors. The paper analyses a specific case study to validate and verify the proposed modelling approach; the scenario is focused on a heterogeneous network applied to an extended maritime environment including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), sensors, platforms, vessels, satellites and relevant military assets and threats. The present document uses this case study as example of system of systems to be simulated including cyber warfare issues to evaluate their impact on operations
Optimizing Retail Logistics from Store Point of View
The paper proposes the structure of an articulated
Automated Inventory Management system for stores
included in a retail network to be integrated in a
company ERP; the system required simulation for
properly design the policies and procedures and set the
related parameters; the proposed case was implemented
for a large retail network supporting both Ipermarkets
and Supermarkets in a wide set of product categories
(i.e. frozen goods, grocery, clothes etc.
Hybrid and Cyber Threats in Towns, Critical Infrastructures and Industrial Plants
The abstract proposes an innovative model to assess combined Hybrid and Cyber Threat in Towns, Critical Infrastructures and Industrial Facilities; the approach use innovative MS2G (Modeling, interoperable Simulation and Serious Game) paradigm in combination with AI to support risk assessment as well as design and reengineering of architecture and procedures to enhance resilience of complex systems
Epidemic Simulation based on Intelligent Agents
This paper proposes an evolution of a model devoted to simulate the behavior city population and to integrate it with an epidemic
agent driven simulator able to evaluate its diffusion and impacts. In facts, this model results now capable to evaluate the
epidemics behavior among inhabitants, check hypothesis regarding virus diffusion as well as identify possible effectiveness of
countermeasures, such as block of mass gathering events, school closure and even lockdow
Simulation Based Analysis on Different Logistics Solutions for Fresh Food Supply Chain
This work presents and describes the project for a new logistic platform for fresh food to be implemented and integrated in an ERP system of a great retail chain company, representing a significant example of the development in logistics for this area. The fact is that "custom" logistic implementations in this area are really challenging projects because of the specific project complexity and infrastructure requirements
A decision support system for disaster prevention in Urban Areas
This paper presents the use of Human Behavior Modeling for Disaster Relief and Emergency Management. The authors propose an innovative MS2G (Modeling, Interoperable Simulation and Serious Game) using Intelligent Agents to reproduce a complex scenario used for Verification, Validation and Accreditation of the approach. The case study is inspired to South Sudan situation and to the necessity to provide accommodations, food, health care services, security and administrative support to a large number of IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) over a wide area.
The simulator includes camp preparation and installation, air dr ops, logistics network creation while the model includes populations, entities and units as well as different equipment (e.g. cargo planes, helicopters, ground units, etc.
Intelligent Agents For Pandemic Modeling
Pandemic scenarios are very complex due to the wide
number of variables and critical aspects which have to
be considered. In fact these phenomena evolve quickly
with strong inertia and influence of stochastic
components (i.e. mutation, human decisions, etc.).
Therefore, Modeling & Simulation is often the only
approach able to reproduce effectively pandemic
dynamics in a realistic way.
A methodology for developing such types of models,
taking into consideration open-issues generated by
pandemic threats is proposed in the paper and human
factors are consider as critical element to mode. A
methodology that supports quick development of
models and fast result achievement is elaborated and
described; at the same time, particular attention is
given to validation and verification of models
