No full textLa trayectoria del arquitecto italiano Adamo Boari se ha recogido en dos importantes
volúmenes titulados Adamo Boari (1863-1928) Arquitecto entre América y Europa.
Ambos son el resultado de una larga y cuidadosa investigación que durante más
de dos años ha comprometido los profesores Martín M. Checa-Artasu y Olimpia Niglio
en una búsqueda e indagación en archivos de Italia, Estados Unidos y México, con el
valioso apoyo del geógrafo e historiador mexicano Francisco Javier Navarro Jiménez y
de la historiadora italiana Angela Ammirati. En el primer volumen se analizan todos los
proyectos diseñados por Adamo Boari entre 1889 y finales de 1927, con especial referencia
a sus primeras experiencias en Brasil antes de pasar a los Estados Unidos, donde
participó en varios concursos profesionales, y más tarde en México, donde pasó más
de 15 años antes de su regreso definitivo a Italia en 1916. En el país transalpino, Adamo
Boari realizó varios proyectos, especialmente a los monumentos conmemorativos y
a algunos planes urbanísticos y redactó numerosos escritos, hasta su muerte en 1928. El
primer volumen termina con la reedición del catálogo revisado y corregido del Fondo
Adamo Boari depositado en la Biblioteca Ariostea de Ferrara, redactado por Angela Ammirati.
El segundo volumen se centra enteramente en las obras realizadas por Boari, todas
ellas en México. Éstas abarcaron tanto la arquitectura religiosa como la institucional
con algún ejemplo de vivienda e incluso, de planificación urbana. Siendo la más destacada
por sus características e importancia el desarrollo del Teatro Nacional, hoy, Palacio
de Bellas Artes. Este segundo volumen concluye con la revisión exhaustiva de la
obra de Adamo Boari en los principales archivos mexicanos realizada por Francisco Javier
Navarro Jiménez

No full textThe National Theater in Mexico City was Adamo Boari’s most significant work. He dedicated
fifteen years of his professional life to building it, between 1901 and 1914. In this chapter,
different aspects of this building are analyzed, putting them in context both with the construction
of other theaters in Latin America, between Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica and in
Mexico. In these countries, the Italian architects, and engineers, and also many artists and
craftsman worked in many new constructions that were realized between the end of the XIX
century and early XX century. It explains the Boari’s original project and its characteristics.
This chapter also develops the perspective of urban planning associated with the construction
of this building. It also explains the problems in the foundation, the subsequent sink of
the structure and the solutions to avoid it

No full textLa Piedad de Cavadas, en el estado de Michoacán está situada en torno a un meandro del río Lerma. En 1871, obtuvo la categoría de ciudad, si bien fue a lo largo del siglo XX que consolidó su forma urbana, pasando de ser la principal población de una región agraria a un centro porcicultor de importancia nacional en los años sesenta a ochenta del siglo XX, para en la actualidad, ser una ciudad de servicios y comercial con destacado papel regional que la conecta con la red urbana de ciudades industrial del Bajío.Todas estas circunstancias nos llevan a plantear este trabajo donde esbozamos la evolución demográfica y la construcción urbana de esta pequeña ciudad mexicana, que destaca por el dinamismo y crecimiento que tuvo a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Es un análisis próximo a la microhistoria que apela al conocimiento en detalle de esa evolución urbana, no sólo para conocerlo desde ese ámbito local, sino como elemento de suma en el conjunto de historias sobre la construcción urbana del país y en específico sobre este de tipo de ciudades

No full textEl trabajo que presentamos quiere analizar el papel de los grandes templos neogóticos construidos entre el siglo XIX y XX en la trama actual de algunas ciudades mexicanas, tomando como ejemplos de estudio el Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, en León, en el Estado de Guanajuato y el del templo de San José Obrero en Arandas en el Estado de Jalisco. Un papel destacado en su actual interrelación con la trama urbana y por el valor simbólico que los mismos tienen dada su monumentalidad y función para el culto religioso. Ambas son iglesias que quedaron inacabadas por causas políticas y económicas y que tras un largo proceso han sido concluidas incorporando las normas del Concilio Vaticano II, convirtiéndose en hitos urbanos con capacidad generar espacios de nueva centralidad para la ciudadanía

Para esto tiene en cuenta las características y las diferentes acepciones de lo que es bien común recogidas en la bibliografía. Además, se indaga sobre la relación entre el paisaje como bien común con el concepto del derecho al paisaje. Un concepto que es analizado presentando las características de éste y las problemáticas para su completa comprensión.This paper analyses the condition of the landscape as a common good. For this, it considers the characteristics and the different meanings of what is common good collected in the bibliography. In addition, the author establishes the relationship between landscape as a common good and the concept of the right to the landscape. No full textThis paper presents observations of eclipsing binaries acquired by members and cooperating observers of the Variable Star and Exoplanet Section of Czech Astronomical Society (B.R.N.O. observing project). Paper contains 3417 times of minima for 969 objects. It was obtained by 80 observers during 2011 – 2013 period. Stem cell mechanobiology
No full textStem cells are undifferentiated cells that are capable of proliferation, self-maintenance and differentiation towards specific cell phenotypes. These processes are controlled by a variety of cues including physicochemical factors associated with the specific mechanical environment in which the cells reside. The control of stem cell biology through mechanical factors remains poorly understood and is the focus of the developing field of mechanobiology. This review provides an insight into the current knowledge of the role of mechanical forces in the induction of differentiation of stem cells. While the details associated with individual studies are complex and typically associated with the stem cell type studied and model system adopted, certain key themes emerge. First, the differentiation process affects the mechanical properties of the cells and of specific subcellular components. Secondly, that stem cells are able to detect and respond to alterations in the stiffness of their surrounding microenvironment via induction of lineage-specific differentiation. Finally, the application of external mechanical forces to stem cells, transduced through a variety of mechanisms, can initiate and drive differentiation processes. The coalescence of these three key concepts permit the introduction of a new theory for the maintenance of stem cells and alternatively their differentiation via the concept of a stem cell 'mechano-niche', defined as a specific combination of cell mechanical properties, extracellular matrix stiffness and external mechanical cues conducive to the maintenance of the stem cell population.<br/
