Pietro Maria Bardi - The Vicarious Architect: The Importation of Italian Futurism to Brazil
No full textItalian-Brazilian Lina Bo Bardi's modern architecture has received considerable attention. Her urban projects in Brazil, however, are rarely discussed as having been influenced by her husband's thoughts. Consequently, they merit renewed critical attention through this lens. Pietro Maria Bardi's urban experiences and architectural collaborations in pre-war Italy and Brazil informed his reflections upon Italian Futurist manifestoes and drawings. His urban novellas, criticism of Italy's State Architecture and unrealized collaborations, specifically with Pier Lugi Nervi on E'42 in Rome for Rationalist planner Marcello Piacentini, express ways for considering the importation of the underlying Futurist design traits in Brazil. This paper illuminates the lesser-known Italian Futurist links with Lina Bo Bardi's projects and tracks their origins to Pietro Maria Bardi. This argument draws upon Olivia de Oliveira's interview with Lina Bardi, her last. Pietro Maria Bardi was a vicarious architect and urban Futurist. He subconsciously conceptualized designs with Lina Bo Bardi within an unrestricted Futurist framework, imported from Italy and transformed in Brazil

No full textProsegue, con una seconda analisi attribuzionistica, l'indagine sull'apocrifia del Diario postumo, iniziata nel 2013 con le ricerche di authorship svolte in collaborazione con Paolo Canettieri. Proprio sui risultati di quelle indagini si sofferma il presente saggio, cercando una spiegazione alla strana autorialitò di alcuni testi poetici di grafia palesemente apocrifa, nonché sulla presenza, in testi sempre caratterizzati da una grafia non montaliana, di riferimenti ad autori o testi cari a Montale. Una spiegazione plausibile viene individuata nella tecnica centonatoria successiva a registrazione di frammenti di conversazione, che spiegherebbe come testi non montaliani (quindi apocrifi) possano essere parzialmente autentici, perché trascritti da conversazioni con il poeta. Lo stato complessivo di apocrifia della raccolta viene altresì rafforzato dalla scoperta, pubblicata in appendice al volume, di una cartolina postale, recante un testo pseudomontaliano, la cui data di presunta scrittura risulta precedente alla data di autorizzazione ministeriale ricostruita attraverso ricerche di archivio presso il Ministero delle Poste. Una indagine filologica che utilizza quindi i dati provenienti dall'analisi autoptica della grafia, quelli storico documentari, e l'analisi del supporto manoscritto
Electroporation in Translational Medicine: From Veterinary Experience to Human Oncology
No full textSimple Summary The application of electric pulses to promote the delivery of anticancer molecules in in vitro and in vivo models is a widely accepted technique known as electroporation (EP). This technique has been diffusely adopted to increase the effectiveness of different antitumor therapies both in pets and in humans. Moreover, this approach has been instrumental to devise and develop novel charging systems to generate nanovesicles embedded drugs and vaccines. This article summarizes the state of art of different EP applications, such as electrochemotherapy (ECT), irreversible electroporation, and EP-based cancer vaccines, in veterinary and human oncology, describing the most recent progresses and the most striking obtained clinical results.Abstract Electroporation (EP) is a broadly accepted procedure that, through the application of electric pulses with appropriate amplitudes and waveforms, promotes the delivery of anticancer molecules in various oncology therapies. EP considerably boosts the absorptivity of targeted cells to anticancer molecules of different natures, thus upgrading their effectiveness. Its use in veterinary oncology has been widely explored, and some applications, such as electrochemotherapy (ECT), are currently approved as first-line treatments for several neoplastic conditions. Other applications include irreversible electroporation and EP-based cancer vaccines. In human oncology, EP is still mostly restricted to therapies for cutaneous tumors and the palliation of cutaneous and visceral metastases of malignant tumors. Fields where veterinary experience could help smooth the clinical transition to humans include intraoperative EP, interventional medicine and cancer vaccines. This article recapitulates the state of the art of EP in veterinary and human oncology, recounting the most relevant results to date
