No full textIl lavoro rappresenta il primo studio sistematico sulla produzione di tetradrammi da parte di Leontinoi, le cui emissioni, tra le maggiori testimonianze dell’arte incisoria siceliota, si concentrano tra gli anni Settanta e Venti del V secolo a.C. La ricerca affronta la coniazione di centosessantadue serie di tetradrammi, commentate attraverso la ricostruzione delle sequenze dei conii, l’analisi stilistico-formale dei tipi monetali, il confronto con i nominali minori, nonché lo spoglio dei ripostigli noti, offrendo nuovi elementi e considerazioni nell’ambito degli studi di numismatica e arte siceliote.The book contains a completely new systematic study on the tetradrachms struck by Leontinoi in the 5th century BC. Among the greatest testimonies of the Greek art in Sicily, the one hundred and sixty-two series of tetradrachms collected here are commented on through the recognition of die-sequences, the figurative analysis of coin types, the relationships with minor denominations, and, finally, through an upgraded survey on the most important coin finds of Sicily

The interpretation of the text reduces the imperialist character usually attributed to the decree and highlights the chance that the implementation of Attic coins, measures, and weights in the whole Athenian arche was promoted in a moment of financial recovery following the Peace of Nicias
Performance evaluation of Wied Dalam (WDD) seismic station in Malta
No full textThe continual operation of a permanent seismograph, now exceeding a couple of decades in some cases, naturally involves changes of hardware and software over time. Nonetheless, the long-term, consistent performance of the seismic station, and the good quality of its data, is very important for national seismic studies investigating the local seismicity, and also important for the international seismological community researching regional tectonics and deep Earth structures. Here we investigate the data availability and quality of the currently only seismic station on Malta (WDD) since its installation in 1995, and establish spectral patterns in the seismic data that may be influenced by diurnal variations, seasonal weather changes, and/or site-specific settings. The results are important for the future deployment of permanent seismic stations on the Maltese islands, and for the analysis of local seismic hazard and ground motion studies
