No full textIn China, good architectural schools still keep the tradition of taking the practice of measuring and recording historic buildings as part or extension of their architectural education, as well as a way of education on heritage conservation through participating in historic building recording. In 1920 a young architect called Shen Liyuan who just graduate from Italian University in Naples, finished the earliest known measured drawing of historic Chinese buildings prepared with modern method. Thanks to a grant from the Chinese government He arrived in Naples in early 1900. After five years of studies at the Faculty of Sciences of the Royal University of Naples and at the Royal Polytechnic of Naples, having graduated in Civil Engineering will return to their homeland. In his country puts into practice the knowledge assimilated in Naples over 35 years and contributes to the transformation of China in the field of architecture. Shen is both a famous architect in modern China and precursors of architecture in modern times. He worked and had success in several orientation such as architecture designing, architecture education and social action. When will be the one who will direct one of the first open architecture departments in a faculty of Engineering will direct the Chinese teachers and students to develop the themes of the sensing field exercises using experimental subject as the study of the Forbidden City in Beijing. He also job in the construction of bazaar, cinema, banks, private houses and collective houses whose types had never seen before in China. They also engage in editorial work taking care of the Chinese edition of an illustrated manual of architectural history of great use in the Western world. This paper lay out a part of his accomplishment on the architecture of modern China and aims to compare the socio-cultural Neapolitan with the Chinese '900 deriving a contribution to the debate on the definition of an architectural style of architecture in China
