Productivity of artificial forest planting in south steppes

    No full text
The productivity of the artificial forest planting in souths steppes is studied. It is set that biological productivity of planting depends on culture specie and age of xyliums which accumulate most biomass in third or in fourth agedependent groups. Most indexes of grassy vegetation biomass are characte ristic for the 35–40 years planting

Identification, quantitation and immunogenicity of culture-derived soluble Babesia bigemina antigens

    No full text
Soluble Babesia bigemina antigens were prepared from short-term in vitro cultures utilizing a microaerophilous stationary phase culture system. In two pilot immunization experiments involving 6 cattle, 3 doses of 25 ml-equivalent (838 EIA units) and 2 doses of 10 ml-equivalent (529 EIA units), respectively, of the crude culture-derived antigens administered with 1 mg of saponin (Quil-A) adjuvant, evoked primary and secondary antibody responses as detected and measured by the indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) test and immunodiffusion tests.Immunoglobulin G (IgG) isolated from bovine hyper-immune serum was utilized to develop and standardize a sandwich enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for the quantitation of B. bigemina antigens. Polyethylene glycol at a 2% concentration was used to amplify the sensitivity of the assay. The specificity of the system was validated by the inhibition tests utilizing B. bigemina immune serum and by the lack of reactivity with other common hemoparasites. The assay was sensitive for detection of low concentrations of antigen in crude culture supernatants (28 ug total protein) and sera of acutely infected animals.Three antigens were demonstrated in the 24 h culture supernatant by analytical electrophoretic techniques and Western blots. The molecular weights of these antigens as estimated by SDS-PAGE and molecular sieve chromatography were in the range of 53-64 kd. Enzyme sensitivity and thermostability studies indicated the antigens were proteinaceous in nature. The three soluble antigens were also identified in the serum of acutely infected animals and in erythrocytes parasitized by B. bigemina. Partial purification of these antigens was achieved by anion-exchange and size exclusion high performance liquid chromatography.Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-07T12:40:00Z (GMT). You got growin’ up to do – en kvalitativ studie om vad som styr institutionsplacering av barn och ungdomar

    No full text

Kinetics and Mechanism of Quartz-Tridymite Transformation

    No full text
Transformation of quartz-tridymite in the presence of mineraliser Li2O takes place in two different stages. Namely, at the first stage cristobalite is formed in the melt which is distributed along the quartz grain surface and which results from the reaction between a mineraliser and quartz. Macrokinetics of quartz-tridymite transformation depend on both the quartz grain size and quality of the relative mineraliser. This dependence can be described by an exponential equation in which an exponent depends on the quality of a mineralizer

Dependence properties of multivariate distributions with proportional hazard rate marginals

    No full text
In this paper, we introduce a new family of multivariate distributions, so called the multivariate proportional hazard rate family of distributions and study its properties. We derive multivariate dependence properties based on a survival function and based on a survival copula function. Multivariate dependence properties based on a survival function are given by multivariate total positivity of order 2, right corner set increasing, smaller in lower orthant order and right tail increasing. Multivariate dependence properties based on a survival copula function are some coefficients of concordance. The survival copula function is used to model this family of multivariate distributions. We illustrate capability of the introduced model on a real data set related to the level of thyroid hormone. © 201
