    The papeer gives an overview of the various techniques to detect and track PMSM rotor position and it investigates those aimed to initialise an Extended Kalman Filter based sensorless drive system. A new techique against initial stall position is studied and implemented on a DSP-based PMSM drive. A set of experimental results, demonstrating the validity of the algorithm is included and commented in the paper
