"The following communication by Ann Preston, M.D., Professor of Physiology and Hygiene in the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, appeared in the "Medical and Surgical Reporter" of May 4th, 1867. Through its forcible utterances, the lamented author "being dead yet speaketh;" and it has been deemed proper in the present epoch of the College history to republish it, in this form, with the accompanying information."
