Through Different Paths to Symphony: The Historical Framework of the Relationship between Eastern Orthodoxy and Political Authorities in Ukraine and Russia

    No full text
The author argues that at least since the 14th century, one can speak of great differences in the development of the relationship between Eastern Orthodoxy and political authorities. Whereas Eastern Orthodoxy in the present-day Russia always tried to distance itself from the western influences, its counterpart in Lithuania and Poland mainly embraced such influences. This became particularly visible during the late 16th and the first half of the 17 th century. Western patterns and Ukrainian hierarchs also strongly shaped the politics of Peter the Great towards the Eastern Orthodox church. Its lack of any meaningful autonomy in relationship with state authorities since 1721 remained characteristic for centuries to come. Therefore, the Ukrainian-Russia church conflict since 1990 has a much longer prehistory. Of course, the autocephalous Ukrainian church was also forced to rely heavily on the help of the state authorities

Caregiver’s psychological well-being and quality of relationship with cardiac amyloidosis patients

    No full text
Caregivers’ psychological well-being is linked to the quality of care provided for familiar with chronic illness. Despite caregivers of cardiac patients present an impaired psychological well-being, less investigated is the psychological well-being of caregivers of individuals with a rare disease such as the Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis (ATTR-CA). Specifically, given that no study explored the well-being of the caregiver and the caregiver-patient relationship, this study aimed to analyze the prevalence of anxiety and depression in ATTR-CA caregivers and if these disorders were associated with patient’s and caregiver’s characteristics. Fifty-eight dyad caregiver-ATTR-CA patients completed the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Network of Relationships Inventory. Moreover, ATTR-CA patients completed the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire, while caregivers completed the Multidimensional Scale of Social Support. Results showed that anxious caregivers (44%) reported higher conflict with patients. They had ATTR-CA relatives with a worse perception of cardiac symptoms and higher anxiety and depression. Depressed caregivers (39%) reported higher conflict with ATTR-CA relatives and lower perceived social support. Caregiver reported a high prevalence of anxiety and depression associated with worse personal relational well-being and to patient’s psycho-physical condition. The care of ATTR-CA patient should consider the caregiver well-being

Fiksacija očesne proteze z enosealnimi vsadki; Fixation of occular prosthesis by enoseal implants

    No full text
Background. The fixation of facial epitheses represents a serious problem, as usual procedures are deficient and inaccurate. Enoseal implants may improve the fixation quality. Methods. The eye epithesis, needed by a patient for the rehabilitation after a surgical removal of an eye, was fixed by the authors with the aid of enoseal implants, inserted into the frontal and zygomatic bone. Retentive elements were fixed into the implants. Conclusions. The fixation of facial epitheses method represents an efficient way of the epitheses fixation which has got a great advantage over the usual fixation. Izhodišča. Fiksacija obraznih epitez predstavlja resen problem, saj so običajni postopki pomanjkljivi in nenatančni.

Concurrent validity of IMU and phone-based markerless systems for lower-limb kinematics during cognitively-challenging landing tasks

Alternative technologies, such as IMU and low-cost markerless systems, may overcome the drawbacks of optoelectronic marker-based motion capture systems (OMS) in sports non-contact injury risk screening, but the precision of collected kinematic data must be validated in comparison to OMS. This study assessed the concurrent validity of the Xsens IMU and phone-based OpenCap systems for lower-limb kinematics during cognitively-challenging landing tasks. Thirty competitive athletes (13 females, 17 males) performed unplanned jump-land-jump tasks towards lateral secondary directions while kinematics was simultaneously recorded with OMS, Xsens, and OpenCap. The agreement of lower limb joint discrete (initial contact and peak) values was assessed using Bland-Altman plots. Kinematic waveforms validity and similarity were evaluated through RMSE, normalized RMSE (NRMSE), and coefficient of multiple correlation (CMC). All systems were also compared using statistical parametric mapping (SPM) ANOVA. ..

Triimidazo[1,2-a:1’,2’-c:1’’,5’’-e]triazine: a new Scaffold for Catalytically Active NHC-Protected Gold Nanoparticles

N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) are a new trend in the stabilization of metal nanoparticles. In this work, we studied a cyclic triimidazole obtained by thermal decomposition in high vacuum of a copper-diimidazolate polymer[1]. The [1,2-a:1’,2’-c:1’’,2’’-e] isomer is the most studied while the [1,2-a:1’,2’-c:1’’,5’’-e] one (1) did not collect any interest. Recently, we pointed our attention on the reactivity of 1 due to the presence of an imidazole ring suitable for the generation of Arduengo carbenes[2]. Treating 1 with benzylbromide led to the isolation of single crystals of an imidazolium salt (2) with bromine as counterion, characterized by SCXRD. Further ionic exchange with tetrachloroaurate anions and the subsequential reduction of the obtained salts led to the formation of stable NHC protected gold nanoparticles (NHC@AuNPs). NHC@AuNPs have been characterized via different techniques such as XRPD, FT-IR, TEM, and UV-Vis absorption, revealing the presence of spheric nanoparticles with a mean diameter below 10 nm. As synthesized nanoparticles have been deposited on different supports and tested as recoverable catalysts in nitro-group reduction with sodium borohydride on simple aromatic molecules such as nitrobenzene, showing high conversion and yield.
