    ASQ: history and debates

    No full text
At the 50th anniversary of James D. Thompson’s fundamental book, Organizations in Action, TAO Digital Library proposes a reflection on this great master’s legacy and the evolution of organizational studies. Twelve researchers, from different disciplinary fields, analyze both the texts utilized for teaching and the contribution of several important journals, particularly in recent decades. The outcome is an overall picture that may stimulate different, divergent evaluations and, even more importantly, desirable, deeper reflections. In particular, Masino Marchiori' contribution aims to reconstruct the history of Administrative Science Quarterly by comparing Thompson’s initial intentions with the orientations of subsequent editors, and document the theoretical production hosted in the journal untill today

Happy cows, happy milk: Smart cows and quality factors

Cows are one of the most important animals in our food industry, given the production of milk and related products. In this paper we present the first outcomes of a large study conducted on cows, studying cows behaviour via GPS tracking. The main goal of the project is to focus on quality factors, that is to say factors that are essential for the diary industry: cow health, quality of milk, milk taste. We turn cows into Smart Cows, and use the collected data to try to gain insights on what are the factors that positively contribute to the quality factors. The results, obtained from analysing outdoor behaviour of a large number of cows, are rather surprising, showing how not only physical aspects play a role, but in fact it is the social aspects of cows that play a key role for quality factors

Health zone monitoring: A passive approach

The health of citizens is obviously a primary factor when considering urban scenarios. Health factors can derive from various causes, included the same city environment (critical levels of pollution in some areas). In this research we develop a smart infrastructure, based on a budget-savvy sensor platform, able to automatically measure citizen health in a given zone by passively collecting information on the citizens. We show the effectiveness of the method by testing it within a large city environment, and analyse its various trade-offs and implications, showing how in fact the urban tissue is spatially related to the health of its inhabitants

This contribution aims to describe the first years activity of Giovanni Marchiori as a carver. Trough stylistic comparisons, the author attributes to the sculptor three great works: the Madonna del Rosario, now in the homonymous church in Lussingrande, the Annunciazione with Santa Margherita, kept in the Civic Museum of Belluno, and the Esaltazione della Croce in the Venetian church of San Pietro di Castello. Moreover, a magnificent wooden Crucifix, kept in the Basilica di Sant’Eufemia in Grado, has to be attributed to Marchiori
