Computing compatible tours for the traveling salesman problem
No full textWe consider the following natural heuristic for the Symmetric Traveling Salesman Problem: solve the subtour relaxation, yielding a solution x*, and then find the best tour x-bar that is 'compatible' with x*, where compatible means that every subtour elimination constraint that is satisfied at equality at x* is also satisfied at equality at x-bar. We prove that finding the best compatible tour is NP-hard and show that the tour can have a cost approaching 5/3 that of the optimal tour. We then describe a branch-and-cut algorithm for computing the best compatible tour, and present extensive computational results for TSPLIB instances. It turns out that, in practice, the tour is usually of very good quality. Moreover, the computational effort for computing the compatible tour is considerably smaller than that of solving the full problem with the best available software, i.e., Concorde

Esso è diviso in tre parti. Nella prima sono riportati in successione i singoli numeri della rivista, con il relativo sommario. Nella seconda compaiono gli articoli riuniti in sequenza cronologica, sotto il nome dell’Autore e ognuno con un proprio numero d’ordine: di ogni articolo è fornito il sunto, con i concetti, le argomentazioni salienti, i principali luoghi discussi. Nella terza parte sono elencati gli Autori antichi e i Nomi e parole notevoli, con il rinvio al numero d’ordine dell’articolo. Le schedature dei numeri 1-30 sono curate da Andrea Cucchiarelli, quelle dei numeri 31-60 da Simona Fortini.The volume collects and summarizes all the articles published in Volumes 1-60 of the journal "Materiali e discussioni per l’analisi dei testi classici” ("MD"), in the period between 1978 and 2008. It is divided into three parts. In the first part the individual issues of the journal are summarized with the table of contents. In the second part the articles appear in chronological order, under the name of the author and each with its own serial number: each item is provided with a summary including the main points of argumentation and the loci discussed. The third part contains the indexes of the ancient authors, of the names and of the most relevant things and words, with reference to the number of the item. The profiling of the numbers 1-30 is cared for by Andrea Cucchiarelli, those of the numbers 31-60 by Simona Fortini

Attorno al “caso Lukács” si condensarono le ambiguità di una direzione politicamente unitaria della rivista, mettendo in luce lo scontro ideologico intestino che segnerà la fine dell’esperienza officinesca
Ciprofloxacin-resistant, CTX-M-15-producing Escherichia coli ST131 clone in extraintestinal infections in Italy
No full textQuinolone and β-lactam resistance mechanisms and clonal relationships were characterized among Escherichia coli isolates resistant to ciprofloxacin and extended-spectrum cephalosporins associated with human extra-intestinal infections in Rome. The E. coli. ST131 clone was found to be prevalent. This clone invariably carried a specific pattern of substitutions in the topoisomerase genes and all isolates but one produced CTX-M-15. One ST131 isolate produced SHV-12. The new ST131 variant described here is of particular concern because it combines fluoroquinolone resistance and chromosomally encoded CTX-M-15. © 2010 The Authors.
