    Die fortschreitende Digitalisierung und Automatisierung im Journalismus stellt auch professionsethisches Handeln unter Druck. Dabei erzeugen die automatisierte Textproduktion und deren Verbreitung ethische Fragen auf individueller, organisatorischer und gesellschaftlicher Ebene. Bezogen auf normative Qualitätsansprüche diskutiert der Beitrag Fragen der journalistischen Verantwortung und der Transparenz. Es zeigt sich, dass die Technologie die Dimensionen der Verantwortung vor, während und nach der Nachrichtenproduktion maßgeblich beeinflusst. Neue Akteure spielen dabei ebenso eine zentrale Rolle wie die normativen Ansprüche im Umgang und bei der Kennzeichnung algorithmisch generierter Inhalte

    Theoretical and experimental study on theophylline release from stearic acid cylindrical delivery systems

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of developing a cylindrical sustained-release dosage form for theophylline directly by means of a ram extrusion process. In particular, the formulations contained: stearic acid as a low melting binder, monohydrate lactose and polyethylene glycol 6000 as hydrophilic fillers. The influence of type and percentage of the components was studied considering different parameters such as the time required for 50% of the drug release (t50%)and the drug diffusion coefficient in the delivery system. The choice of the different formulations to be tested is carried out employing an axial design with constraint domains. The limits of each component were fixed on the basis of preliminary trials. The analysis of the t50% values revealed that the release kinetics is mainly affected by stearic acid and theophylline content, whilst lactose effect is almost negligible. A substantial correspondence between the experimental results and the analysis of the drug release kinetics performed by means of an ad hoc developed mathematical model was found. The proposed mathematical model allows to conclude that wherever the release mechanism is initially ruled by dissolution, then diffusion plays the most important role

    An MPC approach for grid-forming inverters: Theory and experiment

    Microgrids (MGs) interest is growing very fast due to the environment urgency and their capability to integrate renewable energy in a flexible way. In particular, islanded MGs in which distributed energy resources (DERs) are connected to the infrastructure with power electronic converters have attracted the interest of many researchers of both academia and industry because management, control and protection of such systems is quite different from the case of traditional networks. According to their operation mode, MGs that power electronic converters can be divided into grid-forming, grid-feeding and grid-supporting inverters. In particular, grid forming inverters are asked to impose voltage and frequency in the MG. This paper aims to propose a model predictive control (MPC) based approach for grid-forming inverters in an islanded MG. The MPC strategy is implemented because of its capability to define the optimal control actions that contemporarily track the desired reference signals and accounts for equality and inequality constraints. The overall problem formulation (objective function and relevant constraints) is described step by step and considers the specificity of the considered DC source. The proposed approach allows for the obtaining of very good results in terms of readiness against disturbances, even if it requires being fed only by local measurements. In order to validate the developed method, this paper proposes an experimental validation of the designed MPC controller in order to show its correct operation on a real system in a power hardware in the loop set-up using a rapid control prototyping approach

    Technologies of gender: Soviet literature and film in the 1920s and 1930s

    My dissertation, “Technologies of Gender: Soviet Literature and Film in the 1920s and 1930s,” examines the vital role technology and machines – both actual and imagined – play in defining the ‘new Soviet man’ and ‘new Soviet woman’ in early Soviet culture. As I argue in my dissertation, the period of the 1920s and 1930s witnesses a radical change in the perception of physicality brought about by new technology. My project elucidates how the rise of technology and technological discourse in Soviet culture remakes the body and reconfigures traditional gender roles, producing a Soviet cyborg (in Donna Haraway’s terms), first male, then female. In the twenties, in order to combat mortality and render the body perfect, male authors engage in writing about sophisticated technologies based on experimental scientific and medical research (as in Pilnyak’s 1928 A Matter of Death and Platonov’s 1927 The Ethereal Tract). These technocratic utopian imaginings introduce the cyborg that has overcome all mortal constraints, including biological procreation (Platonov). While in the predominantly male avant-garde culture women’s role and access to technology are reduced, I show that in socialist realist texts and films of the 1930s, the reverse takes place: women instead of men now have a privileged relationship to machines. Women artists and workers contest the hyper-masculinist culture and through female cyborgism remap their bodies and consciousness to create their own feminist politics (Shaginian’s 1931 novel The Hydroelectric Plant, Shub’s 1932 film K.Sh.E., and Pasha Angelina’s all-female tractor brigade). The official culture of the thirties refashions itself in the feminine idiom to demonstrate that the never-ending advancement under Stalin exceeds the revolutionary achievements of the 1920s. This obsession leads to the creation of the Soviet heroine of labor, the female cyborg embodied in the image of the woman at the tractor wheel riding into the bright future, the ultimate symbol of transformed Stalinist technocratic society (as in Eisenstein’s General Line (1929), Pyriev’s Tractor Drivers (1939), and Alexandrov’s Bright Path (1940). The project considers both well-known and lesser-known writers/texts and films.     Preparation and evaluation of a melt pelletised paracetamol/stearic acid sustained release delivery system

    The potential of a sustained release formulation for paracetamol produced by melt pelletisation was investigated. The chosen formulation was based on the combination of stearic acid as a melting binder and anhydrous lactose as a filler. After determination of the size distribution, the pellet characterisation included scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), specific surface area and true density determination. Hence, the in vitro release from every single size fraction (2000, 1250, 800, 630, <630 microm) was evaluated and the release mechanism was analysed with the help of an appropriate mathematical model. The results of drug content and superficial atomic composition were found to be constant in all pellets size fractions, attesting the ability of melt pelletisation in a high shear mixer to form a product with homogeneous composition. The mathematical model is built on the hypotheses that drug diffusion and solid drug dissolution in the release environment are the key phenomena affecting drug release kinetics. Smaller classes apart (particles are not perfectly spherical), the comparison between model best fitting and experimental data indicated the reasonability of these hypotheses. Moreover, model reliability is proved by its ability of predicting drug release from a known mixture of the above mentioned particles classes

    Deep Trephination Allows High Rates of Successful Pneumatic Dissection for DALK Independent of Surgical Experience

    Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between surgical experience and the success rate of pneumatic dissection for deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) using deep trephination. Methods: A noncomparative case series evaluating the first 10 consecutive keratoconic eyes without deep stromal scarring, operated by 8 surgeons of 3 different experience levels, was conducted; there were a total of 80 patients. Standardized DALK was performed, including deep trephination 450 to 550 m in depth and 9 mm in diameter, pneumatic dissection, removal of the stroma, and transplantation of a 9-mm partial-thickness anterior lamellar graft. The success rate of pneumatic dissection correlated with surgical experience. Results: Pneumatic dissection succeeded in 7, 7, 8, and 9 cases of 10 cases in the first group of 4 inexperienced surgeons (under 10 previous keratoplasties of any kind); in 9 and 10 of 10 cases in the second group of 2 relatively experienced surgeons (under 100 keratoplasties); and in 10 and 8 of 10 cases in the third group of 2 very experienced surgeons (more than 1000 previous keratoplasties). No difference between the groups was found to be statistically significant with the χ2 test (P &gt; 0.05). Conclusions: The standardized DALK technique using a deep trephination allows high success rates of pneumatic dissection even for surgeons inexperienced in keratoplasty

    Acoustic excitation on flame properties caused by two sound sources

    Research and development in understanding the responses of acoustic excitation as a meant to influence flame behavior have become one of the significant issues in combustion instability. This interaction can be found in most processing, power generating, and propulsion application. Some of the responses that can be seen from the interaction are lift-off phenomenon, changes of flame macroscopic structure, and production of emission that contribute to the environment. However, it seems there are insufficient data that were focusing mainly on the change of flame properties and how it's being affected by the increase of acoustic excitation. The need to publish some of the significant results and helps improve the understanding of combustion instabilities became the major motivational in conducting the research. This study adopted experimental research and understanding the change of flame behavior by differentiates two number of speakers (source of acoustic) excited to the flame. For data collection, it employs a direct imaging technique using a DSLR camera. The data obtained were analyzed using image processing software, Image J. This experiment focuses on the change of flame properties based on the number of the speaker (source of acoustic) used with the increased number of frequencies. The flame shape obtain in this experiment is divided into disturbances and un-disturbance categories, and each shape is then thoroughly discussed by focusing on the change of its length, width, and angle. The results from this experiment shows that the response of flame is significantly affected by the configuration of speakers (sound source) and the magnitude of amplitude used. It indicated that for dual speakers and higher amplitude in terms of its flame characteristic shows a promising flame response compare with a single speaker and lower amplitud
