The preparation of an ionic liquid containing a cyano group and its properties as a lithium battery electrolyte
Implementation and control of generic Internet-Based telerobotic systems
This paper describes the design and implementation techniques of a generic Internet-based telerobotic system. The purpose is to make available the precious technical information and hands-on experience of the authors for the research community. The paper is based on the telerobotics system that the authors recently implemented between KAIST, Korea and Saga University, Japan. In its current functionality, two control modes: high-level supervisory control and low-level supervisory control are explored demonstrating their merits and demerits

THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE LAND SLIDE AT MT.ONTAKE DUE TO EARTHQUAKE IN WESTERN NAGANO
The earthquake with magnitude 6.8, occurred at the southern side of Mt.Ontake on Se-ptember 14th, 1984. A catastrophic land slide, named Ontake Land Slide, its rock fall volume3.6x10 7 m3, was caused by the earthquake. The large amount of sediment ran down frommountain slope region 1900 m to 2500 m in altitude through Denjo river and Nigori riverinto Ohtaki river. Simultaneously, its running out process brought about sediment disastersof various kinds. The present study will discuss the motion of a large amount of sediment. At first, discu-ssions are made on sediment erosion, transportation and deposition in the running outprocess of the soil block, and then the authors' opinion is presented for the dynamics of itsrunning out process. Second, the momentum equation and its solution having been developedby the authors is shown. The theoretical moving velocity of the soil block is given tothe case of Ontake Land Slide, and compared with the mean velocity estimated by fieldsurveys. The earthquake with magnitude 6.8, occurred at the southern side of Mt.Ontake on Se-ptember 14th, 1984.
Planar, impedance- metric NOx sensor with spinel- type SE for high temperature applications
This study displays the results obtained with planar, impedance- metric sensors having a NiCr2O4- SE and a specially manufactured FSZ and PYSZ electrolytes. The fabrication of the sensor devices and their micro structural properties are analysed and their gas sensing properties under lean-burn conditions towards NOx are characterized. Therefore the sensing characteristics to NO and to O2/NO-gas mixtures are analysed at temperatures up to 700°C and at NO concentrations between 0 and 1000 ppm at the presents of different O2 concentrations. The cross-selectivity to other flue-gases, like CO2, CO and CH4 and mixtures of those with O2 are also analysed. The analysis shows that the total impedance is a new and capable type of sensing parameter for the characterisation of NO-gas sensors. This study applies the total impedance to demonstrate the principal applicability of impedance metric sensor concept for the detection of NOx in lean atmospheres and under harsh conditions. The tested sensor device is able to monitor NO up to 1000 ppm at 650°C
