Liquid helium flows around an oscillating cylinder
No full textThe complementary flows of normal viscous liquid helium (He I) and of superfluid helium (He II) around an oscillating obstacle, of rectangular cross-section, have been studied experimentally by using the particle tracking velocimetry technique, with solid deuterium particles. The observed particle behaviour in He II is very similar to that seen in He I. It seems therefore that, without some kind of special forcing acting differently on each superfluid helium component, on length scales which the experiment can access, the oscillating quantum flow mimics the classical one

What Determines the Shape of the Probability Weighting Function?
No full textWhen valuing risky prospects, people typically overweight small probabilities and underweight medium and large probabilities, but there is vast heterogeneity in individual behavior. We explore the relationship between person-specific probability weights, estimated from investment decisions in a laboratory experiment, and personal characteristics. We find considerable interaction effects with gender. While women’s probability weighting is strongly and significantly susceptible to mood states, men’s is not. Moreover, we show that cheerful and optimistic people weight probabilities of investment gains more favorably than do pessimistic people. People who calculate expected payoffs are less prone to probability distortions than those who do not use a lottery’s expected value as a decision criterion. None of the factors studied impact subjects’ valuations of monetary outcomes.Probability Weighting Function, Prospect Theory, Risk Aversion, Gender Differences

human being living his self as an irreconcilable tragedy. The author also analyses
the idea of human freedom and human finitude that Sciacca understands exist in

No full textPeneliti mengambil sebuah kajian yang berjudul Upacara Adat Mambere Tungkot Pakon Duda-duda Etnik Simalungun. Masalah yang diteliti adalah tahapan menjalankan upacara adat mambere tungkot pakon duda-duda, faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan upacara adat mambere tungkot pakon duda-duda, serta modal sosial didalam acara. Metode yang dipakai pada kajian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif teori Vand Dijk. Metode pengumpulan data (1) Observasi (2) Wawancara langsung (3) Dokumentasi. Berkenaan dengan hasil yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah tahapan pada upacara mambere tungkot pakon duda-duda pada masyarakat Simalungun yaitu: (1) marpangir (2) ibadah singkat (3) memberikan simalum-malum (4) menyerahkan tungkot pakon duda-duda (5) makan bersama . Adapun dampak dalam upacara ini adalah memberikan dampak positif bagi masyarakat Simalungun. Yang disebut mambere tungkot pakon duda-duda yaitu memberikan ucapan syukur terhadap kedua orang tua yang sudah membesarkan anak-anak nya sebagai bukti rasa hormat mereka. Upacara mambere tungkot adalah suatu hal yang didambakan setiap orang tua dari anak-anak nya. Masyarakat Simalungun melaksanakan upacara adat mambere tungkot pakon duda-duda telah membentuk kultur dari bebuyutan serta dilakukan oleh masyarakat Simalungun di Desa Merek Raya Kabupaten Simalungun
