Guillaume de Palerne en prose : quelques notes de lecture
Composed by Pierre Durand shortly before 1530, the prose version of Guillaume de Palerne presents many features worth of interest; this article analyses in particular the terms in which the author intervenes in the text, to refer to his verse model and to comment on the new romance he is in the process of constructing. As a result of these interventions, the prosateur is very much a presence in his text, and one ready to share with his readers his own moral interpretation of the story.Rédigée peu avant 1530 par Pierre Durand, la version en prose de Guillaume de Palerne présente plusieurs caractéristiques dignes d’intérêt ; cet article analyse en particulier les prises de parole de l’auteur pour désigner la source en vers et pour commenter le nouveau récit qu’il est en train de construire. Il en ressort l’image d’un prosateur bien présent dans son texte et prêt à en offrir une interprétation morale à partager avec ses lecteurs

The aim of this article is to compare the lexicon of Perceval le Galloys (1530), ters 94-109, to its source, the Manessier's Continuation. The author's choices - suppression, substitution, preservation and gloss - reveal his translation technique, sometimes his difficulties or preferences; they especially show the existence, in early sixteenth-century lexicon, of many strata: archaisms go with "modern" words, or even neologisms. The 1530 author is a good interpreter of the ancient lexicon, and only rarely does the opacity of a word prevent him from understanding an entire passage

The Perceval printed in 1530, which collects under a single title the prose adaptations of fi ve works related to the Conte du Graal of Chrétien de Troyes, is based on a manuscript that has since been lost. Th e aim of this article is to verify, by the means of a survey of the entire text, the possible relationship with any of the existing manuscripts of the verse romances. Although neither of these constitutes " the " source of the prose writer, the 1530 adaptation does shed light on the poems' textual tradition as well as suggest some variants which may stem back to the " originals "
