Petition by James Lynch for Pope Pius XI
Typescript petition signed (on every page) by James Lynch, P.P. Wrey's Bush, Dunedin, New Zealand, for Pope Pius XI. Submitting his case against Fr. Michael Howard, Invercargill, over property the plaintiff's late uncle, Monsignor Burke, had invested heavily in. Sketching the unfruitful proceedings at the ecclesiastical courts at Dunedin and at Wellington; both finding insufficient proof for Burke's personal expenditure. Complaining also he had little time to pre- pare his case. Further details. (Item was marked '21 June 1923' by Curran, but it is evident it was sent at the same time as the letter above.
