Brown holds the first Ph.D. in comparative genocide studies from Clark University\u27s Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. She has presented at an array of professional conferences around the world, published pieces in academic journals, news outlets, and edited volumes, and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the International Association of Genocide Scholars.
Brown has worked and conducted research in Rwanda since 2004, served as a project coordinator in refugee camps in Tanzania, worked in refugee resettlement in Texas, and researched conflict globalization and conflict in Israel. Prior to coming to Chhange, she developed and managed post-secondary education programming for USC Shoah Foundation. She has designed and taught courses on human rights, mass violence, and history at San Diego State University, Mt San Jacinto Community College, and Worcester State University. Brown served as an academic consultant for Aegis Trust in Rwanda and as the scholarly advisor on the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda for Chhange\u27s museum-quality exhibit, Journeys Beyond Genocide: The Human Experience.
She is the author of Gender and the Genocide in Rwanda: Women as Perpetrators and Rescuers and the co-editor of the forthcoming Routledge Handbook on Religion and Genocide.https://commons.erau.edu/genocide-bios/1059/thumbnail.jp

A new letter by Sara Coleridge
This article provides a discussion of a previously unpublished letter in the Keats House Collections written by Sara Coleridge, the poet and editor, and the only daughter of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Presented here is the first transcription of the letter to be printed – addressed to the artist Samuel Laurence (sometimes Lawrence) – and an analysis of its contents in relation to Sara’s creative writing and life. The essay considers what the letter might be able to tell us about the author, her writing, her engagement with the arts, her position as a woman of letters in the late Romantic/early Victorian period in London, and her health, both physical and mental

A Comparison Between Representative 3D Faces Based on Bi- and Multi-variate and Shape Based Analysis
In Ergonomic product design, designers need to translate anthropometric data of the target population into product dimensions or sizing systems. Currently, sizing systems are often based on traditional anthropometric data and generally use the variation of one or two key body dimensions directly related to the product. For products that need to closely fit a certain part of the body it is relevant to incorporate multiple key dimensions. This can be realized by a multivariate approach such as a Principal Component Analysis. Over the past decades, there has been an increase in incorporating 3D imaging in anthropometric surveys. In order to integrate the use of 3D anthropometry in product sizing, representative models are used to visualize the variability of the target population. For the development of a ventilation mask for children, this study compares representative models of 3D faces based on a bivariate, multivariate and shape based analysis of 303 children's faces.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Applied Ergonomics and DesignIndustrial Desig
Comparison of Questionnaire Based and User Model Based Usability Evaluation Methods
The usability now serves as a fundamental quality of a computational device, e.g. smartphone. Moreover, the smartphone has firmly embedded into our daily life as an indispensable part, so the context and style that user may interact with them are largely different from a decade ago. Nowadays, testing usability with end user has become a common sense. Thus, how valid a usability evaluation method could assess the ‘extent to which a product can be used by specified users’ (ISO 9241-11) to facilitate software design becomes an interesting question to explore. In this research, three usability evaluation methods are compared. Among these methods, IsoMetrics is a standard questionnaire aiming at offer usability data for summative and formative evaluation; SUMI aims to assess quality of software product from end users perspective; User Model Checklist is a method based on user’s cognition-motor chain in specific tasks. The coverage and amount of usability issues, user’s effort of evaluation and software developer’s feedback on evaluation result are compared under a simulated usability test on SMS function with a smartphone. The result indicate that User Model Checklist could cover 90.4% of the usability issues found by IsoMetrics and SUMI, while 26.3% usability issues found by User Model Checklist could not be covered by IsoMetrics and SUMI. Users put highest effort on accomplish IsoMetrics and lowest effort on User Model Checklist. Moreover, the feedbacks from the developers show that the User Model Checklist requires lower usability knowledge, offers clearer improvement points and supports detailed design better.Accepted author manuscriptApplied Ergonomics and Desig
Planning policy instruments for resilient urban redevelopment: The case of office conversions in Rotterdam, the Netherlands
This chapter considers resilient urban redevelopment as the ability of public and private stakeholders to respond to changes in real estate market demand by adopting existing offices to new usages. It explores the various conceptual planning policy instruments that could assist in realising resilient urban redevelopment. Additionally, the effectiveness of such planning policy instruments is demonstrated by case study examples from the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The effectiveness of achieving urban resilience through office conversions based on the use of policy instruments is a difficult and complex matter to assess. The Rotterdam covenant, in terms of discipline, is in the ‘legal’ policy instrument category. The chapter concludes with some comparative case study lessons for policymakers and general conclusions for research on resilient urban redevelopment.Accepted Author ManuscriptUrban Development ManagementReal Estate ManagementBuilding La
Anthropometric data of Chilean male workers
The aim of this study was to update the Chilean male workers’ anthropometric database to be used for design purposes and to examine the secular changes observed in a group of anthropometric variables for Chilean male workers. Data collection involved a sample of 2,346 male workers with ages ranging from 18 to 65+, assigned to the Mutual de Seguridad C.Ch.C in the two most populated regions of Chile (Valparaíso and Metropolitana) distributed in nine economic activities branches. Data collection was performed by two teams of 3 physiotherapies each. Before starting the collection process, the measurement teams underwent a training session of one week that included a theoretical session on the basic concepts of anthropometrics, as well as some practical instructions. A total of 32 anthropometric measures were gathered following the ISO standard 7250-1. Before applying the data, a checking process was carried out, trying to identify errors related to the data collection process. The magnitude of the positive secular trend for the stature was 1.0 cm per decade and the highest value was found for shoulder breadth, with a positive increase of 2.7 cm per decade. The results obtained allowed to observe the existence of a positive secular trend for most of the selected body measurements. Finally, it was also possible to verify that the current research may be used for design purposes and to establish the baseline data for long-term observation regarding anthropometric changes among Chilean male workers.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Applied Ergonomics and Desig
