RF/Optical High Data Rates Intra/Inter-Orbit Satellites Links in Future NTNs
This paper addresses the feasibility, using either
RF or optical technology, of high data rates (from 1Gbps to
more than 10Gbps) intra-orbit and inter-orbit satellite links in
future Non Terrestrial Networks. In the framework of the 3D
Non Terrestrial Networks architectures consisting of different
aerial nodes, the feasibility of high data rates links among
satellites in the same orbits or different orbits enables novel
communication architectures able to meet the more and more
stringent communication requirements in terms of data rate,
latency and service availability. This paper presents some of those
architectures and presents a preliminary analysis of the feasibility
of RF and/or optical links, highlighting the technological hurdles
that must be overcome for each approach
L’amicizia in Montaigne: autonomia, mescolamento, confraternita
In this article, I put forward a particular reading of the chapter “De l’amitié” from Montaigne’s "Essais", which also draws upon other chapters with which it can be compared. Having dealt with the well-known question of the relationship between Montaigne and La Boétie, I go on to highlight those aspects which characterize the Montaignian model of perfect friendship compared with the paradigms of the ancient world, particularly that of Aristotle. I draw particular attention to the features of autonomy (as opposed to “heteronomous” friendships, the purpose of which is not to be found in the relationship of friendship itself, but elsewhere, in other matters), of mixing (the confusion of wills) and the abolition of the set of attitudes, practices and expectations (such as obligation, gratitude, prayer, thanksgiving) which imply a dividing and hierarchical temporality: a clear division at the heart of the relationship of friendship, which the perfect friendship counters with a synchronic temporality and symmetrical motion. Finally, I will explore a political reading of the chapter by means of the concept of brotherhood, as a possible expansion of the model embodied by the relationship of friendship between Montaigne and La Boétie
A contemporary update on cancer and takotsubo syndrome
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is characterized by a transient left ventricular systolic dysfunction, burdened by significant acute and long-term mortality and morbidity. The prognosis of TTS, especially in the long-term, is influenced by both non-cardiovascular (non-CV) and CV comorbidities, among which cancer is one of the most common. The presence of a malignancy is proven to be associated with higher mortality in TTS. Moreover, a number of anticancer treatments has been reported to possibly cause TTS as a form of cardiotoxicity, even though clearcut associations are lacking. The aim of this narrative review is to sum up contemporary knowledge on the association of cancer and TTS, addressing unmet needs and practical implications. The importance of a close collaboration between cardiologists and oncologists is herein highlighted, both to allow an adequate management of the acute TTS phase, and to actively and safely return to the oncologic management once the acute setting is resolved
La fondazione dell’epistemologia metafisica Il trascendentalismo kantiano e la dialettica Hegeliana
In this paper I want to propose a theoretical comparison between Kant’s transcendental philosophy and Hegel’s speculative one, and I argue that both – according to their peculiar method – determine an epistemological grounding of metaphysics. The foundations converge for what concerns the need of a scientific self-founded knowledge, which is universally valid and actually necessary, without occurring to arbitrary and extrinsic assumptions. Nevertheless, they differ as of the foundational technique, the overall epistemology and its metaphysical outcome. Indeed, while Kant’s foundational criteria is given by the transcendental deduction, Hegel’s is made up of the dialectic. Furthermore, while Kant’s transcendental philosophy determines a metaphysica generalis, by means of a linear, vertical epistemology which has a twofold ontological foundation, conversely Hegel’s speculative philosophy, by virtue of an epistemology which consists of a single circle of scientific knowledge, and which foundation is “broken at the bottom” (abgründiger Grund), also determines a metaphysica specialis

Leibniz: note sull'amicizia
The article aims to describe the several meanings of friendship by Leibniz;
starting from the convinction that the person is the root of friendship, Leibniz distinguishes
between person and “brutus” while laying the foundations for an interesting
philosophy of mind. Cognition (vision of universal), will and memory continuously
interact in that frame. Friendship also leads to a specific political vision of civil
society, based on relations of reciprocity (legal category of equity). The legal meaning
and moral aspects of friendship emerge from the analysis of the three types of law:
private law, public law and universal law. The universal law expresses the charity/benevolence
(also friendship and love) of the wise man, considered by Leibniz human
mirror of divine wisdom. Thus the friendship unites the natural law to the teological
horizon of divine perfection
SALICE project: satellite-assisted localization and communication systems for emergency services
Restoring the connectivity in the emergency areas and providing NAV/COM services able to support and coordinate the rescue teams represent two of the main telecommunication needs for efficient emergency situation management. The SALICE (Satellite-Assisted LocalIzation and Communication system for Emergency services) Project aimed at identifying the system architecture and the most suitable solutions to be adopted in the future integrated reconfigurable NAV/COM systems and to analyze their feasibility in realistic emergency scenarios. The article analyzes the proposed strategies and the most significant project results in pursuing both the global coverage of the emergency areas and the development of a reconfigurable and cooperative NAV/COM system
