Local linear fitting under near epoch dependence: Uniform consistency with convergence rates

Local linear fitting is a popular nonparametric method in statistical and econometric modeling. Lu and Linton (2007, Econometric Theory23, 37–70) established the pointwise asymptotic distribution for the local linear estimator of a nonparametric regression function under the condition of near epoch dependence. In this paper, we further investigate the uniform consistency of this estimator. The uniform strong and weak consistencies with convergence rates for the local linear fitting are established under mild conditions. Furthermore, general results regarding uniform convergence rates for nonparametric kernel-based estimators are provided. The results of this paper will be of wide potential interest in time series semiparametric modeling.Degui Li, Zudi Lu, Oliver Linto

Trachylophus tianmuensis sp. nov. (Figs. 3–4). Adults (Fig. 3). Male. Body length: 28.0mm, wide 12.5mm. Body reddish to yellowish brown, antenna, pronotum, elytra, abdominal surface and legs covered with short golden pubescence. Head with a groove between upper eye-lobes; vertex with a fairly deep groove between antennal insertions and with a smooth ridge on each side of raised areas; frons deeply impressed on each side. Antenna slightly longer than body in males, 3 rd segment longer than 4 th and subequal to 5 th antennal segment; antennomeres with flattened margin laterally from 5 th segment and 5 th to 10 th antennal segment internally spined at apex; Prothorax slightly broad than longer, obtusely convex at side, lacking lateral tubercles; disc with vermicular ridges (Fig. 3C). Scutellum lingulate. Elytra parallel on both sides and weakly narrowed posteriorly; apex narrowed externally moderately obliquely emarginated with strong sutural spines, but without outwardly turned tooth at outer angle. First hind tarsal segment shorter than next two combined. Prosternal intercoxal process with rounded tuberculate (Figs. 3D & E). Male genitalia (Fig. 4). Tegmen moderately curved in profile, 2.5 times as long as wide; Parameres short, with length about same as basal width, covered with brown setae, with longer and sparse setae apically (Fig. 4A). Median lobe slightly curved. Median struts slender, 1/2 times as long as whole median lobe in length; ventral plate longer than dorsal plate, median foramen rounded. Endophallus moderately thin and long, followed by an ejaculatory duct (Fig. 4B). Tergite VIII wider than long, apex emarginated; densely covered with short brown setae apically. Spiculum gastrale about 1.5 times as long as tergite VIII. Spiculum relictum about half of tergite VIII (Fig. 4C). Etymology. The species name refers to the type locality. Type material. Holotype: male, Mt. Tianmushan, Zhejiang, China, 18-VI-1984, leg. Ainong Zhou (SWU). Distribution. China: Zhejiang. Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from congeners in smaller body size and shorter antennae in males (antennae only slightly longer than body in males). It is similar to T. sinensis but differs in broader tergite VIII and lack of lateral pronotal tubercle.Published as part of Lu, Yafei, Li, Zhu & Chen, Li, 2019, Two new species of the genus Trachylophus Gahan, 1888 (Coleoptera, Cerambycinae Cerambycini) from China, pp. 580-586 in Zootaxa 4706 (4) on pages 581-584, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4706.4.7, http://zenodo.org/record/361699

Single-Photon-Memory Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Secure Direct Communication - Part II: A Practical Protocol and its Secrecy Capacity

    No full text
In Part I of this two-part letter on single-photon-memory measurement-device-independent quantum secure direct communication (SPMQC), we reviewed the fundamentals and evolution of quantum secure direct communication (QSDC). In this Part II, we propose a practical protocol and analyze its secrecy capacity. In order to eliminate the security loopholes resulting from practical detectors, the measurement-device-independent (MDI) QSDC protocol has been proposed. However, block-based transmission of quantum states is utilized in MDI-QSDC, which requires practical quantum memory that is still unavailable at the time of writing. For circumventing this impediment, we propose the SPMQC protocol for dispensing with high-performance quantum memory. The performance of the proposed protocol is characterized by simulations considering realistic experimental parameters, and the results show that it is feasible to implement SPMQC by relying on existing technology.</p
