Integrated base station assignment, diversity and power control for cognitive radio networks
[[abstract]]An integrated base station assignment, diversity and power control algorithm is proposed to realize the base station sharing, in which primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) can connect to any base station by the variable base station assignment, so that the radio resource is efficiently utilized for cognitive radio networks. We show that this algorithm reduces SU's outage rate (for failing to meet the requirement of SIN R per bit) while always meeting the requirement of SINR per bit for all PUs. Adaptive resource allocation for downlink grouped MC-CDMA systems with power and BER constraints
[[abstract]]This paper proposes a complete solution to adaptively allocate resource for downlink Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems with the power and bit error rate (BER) constraints. Under frequency-selective fading channels, the whole spectrum is divided into several groups and each user is allocated to a group based on its channel state information (CSI). After grouping, the adaptive modulation algorithm assigns the bit loading and allocates the transmission power for each user according to its effective channel response. Simulation results show that the proposed solution can achieve high throughput, guarantee the required BER, and reduce the blocking probability. (C) 2013 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.[[note]]SC
Throughput-based rate and power control for cognitive radio networks with receive diversity and error control
[[abstract]]In this study, the cognitive radio (CR) networks are considered where the user can be categorised into the primary user (PU) and the secondary user (SU). A throughput-based rate and power control algorithm is proposed to find each SU's transmitting power and transmission rate that meet the throughput requirement of each SU for the CR networks with receiver diversity and error control. The proposed algorithm makes the throughput converge to the throughput requirement for the feasible SU (whose throughput can be greater than or equal to the throughput requirement) and makes the throughput converge to the maximum achievable throughput [for the limiting signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR)] for the infeasible SU. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can increase the probability for making SU achieve its throughput requirement and PUs' total interferences from all SUs are decreasing and always fall below the threshold, which implies that the quality of service of the PU will be ensured during (and after) the execution of the proposed algorithm.[[note]]SC
