Modeling evapotranspiration (ET) using the surface energy balance approach and remote sensing data has been showing promising results, but the complex nature of heat and momentum transfers among land, plants, and atmosphere has imposed a challenge towards obtaining more accurate crop water consumptive use results. The project aims to improve estimates of crop ET by improving the estimation of sensible heat (H), the most critical component of the surface energy balance, through a combined application of remote sensing data and an aerodynamic temperature approach
Człowiek i medycyna w sztuce Margaret Edson "Dowcip"
The author analyses problems of disease, dying, and death addressed in a play by
Margaret Edson entitled Wit. Special attention is paid to the structure of meta-theatre
and the function of wit in the play. The author investigates limitations of reason in the
approach adopted by the doctors who take care of Vivian Bearing, and who subject
her to an excruciating experiment in order to achieve a potential research success.
She also discusses the protagonist’s attitude to literary works, dealing with her own
disease, to other people and to God. This offers an opportunity to ruminate on the
exact meaning of irretrievable loss involved in suffering. She also concentrates on
the attitude of the nurse who – thanks to her emotional intelligence and empathy –
accompanies Vivian on her way to death
Abordagens de estudo e performance na obra Elegía de Edson Zampronha para violoncelo e eletroacústica
This article will address technical and interpretative aspects in study and
performance in Elegy (2003-2009) by Edson Zampronha for cello and eletroacoustics.
Through study strategies and performance the author proposes to guide future
interpreters, from her personal experiences reporting its preparation of this work
process. The theoretical framework is based in De Andrade (2010) and Zampronha
Machado de Assis, workman author: about classical themes in Ressurreição
This paper intends to analyze the presence of themes from Classical Culture, specifically, Greek and Roman Cultures, in Machado de Assis’ Ressurreição. With that aim in mind, we tried to identify dialogic elements in this novel, intending to showcase how those elements give new meanings articulated as an important repertoire for the development of the national literary project devised by the author.</p
Using Conjunctions and Adverbs for Author Verification
Linguistics and stylistics have been investigated for author identification for quite awhile, but recently, we have testified a impressive growth in the volume with which lawyers and courts have called upon the expertise of linguists in cases of disputed authorship. This motivatescomputer science researchers to look to the problem of author identification from a different perspective. In this work, we propose a stylometric feature set based on conjunctions and ad-verbs of the Portuguese language to address the problem of author identification. Two different approaches of classification were considered. The first one is called writer-independent and it re-duces the pattern recognition problem to a single model and two classes, hence, makes it possible to build robust system even when few genuine samples per writer are available. The second oneis called the personal model, or writer-dependent, which very often performs better but needs a bigger number of samples per writer. Experiments on a database composed of short articlesfrom 30 different authors and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as classifier demonstrate that the proposed strategy can produced results comparable to the literature
