The letter also requests a copy of the issue containing the two items. The letter is generic and most likely meant to be sent to many newspapers in Military Area No. 1.The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942

No full textEl conocimiento preciso de cómo preparar un alimento frito de forma saludable podría tener implicaciones relevantes para la prevención de enfermedades metabólicas y cardiovasculares y por otro lado, evitar la ingesta de alimentos fritos con implicaciones para la salud. Además, si las frituras son consumidas muy ocasionalmente, disminuiría este riesgo. Diferentes estudios han demostrado que estar expuestos a alimentos fritos de forma diaria, ya sea en la realización o en el consumo de las mismas, conlleva a un alto riesgo a padecer ciertos tipos de cáncer. Por lo tanto, la formación de sustancias tóxicas en los alimentos caseros podría ser minimizada si los consumidores siguen reglas adecuadas en la preparación de alimentos. Sin embargo, se necesitan estudios adicionales en animales de experimentación y seres humanos para arrojar luz sobre este aspecto ya que todavía queda mucho para esclarecer y avanzar en el conocimiento de todos los aspectos que ocurren durante el proceso de fritura. Además, el uso correcto de un alimento frito preparado podría mostrar efectos beneficiosos sobre el metabolismo de lípidos y la glucosa en seres humanos, proporcionando un amplio campo de investigación en nutrición clínica

No full textL'educazione alla democrazia, in un mondo che sta spostando il paradigma globale verso forme di "democrazia autoritaria", basate però sull'implemento di tecnologie potenzialmente molto inclusive, richiede una preparazione adeguata all'uso consapevole della tecnologia integrata, per poter partecipare alle attività collettive e quotidiane. Ma richiede anche la consapevolezza degli schemi di potere che attraverso questa tecnologia formano la società e la direzionano: tali il fenomeno della smart city, il "modello Singapore" e le loro configurazioni tecnoeducative, in comparazione al conflitto tra funzionalismo pedagogico e pedagogia critica in occidente. La natura della democrazia, dalle illusioni della rete agli sbocchi tecnocratici, è legata alla formazione della cittadinanza nelle forme liquide dell'era postmoderna, in cui il paradigma reticolare sostituisce, in ogni campo, i vecchi schemi gerarchici, generando nuove forme di consenso, partecipazione e controllo capillare, per cui l'educazione resta un campo primario e un bene necessario per ogni società

Paleogene tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Alicante trough (external Betic zone, SE Spain) and its bearing in the timing of deformation of the sud-Iberian Margin.
No full textThe Paleogene Alicante Trough of the South-Iberian Margin (External Betic Zone) consists of a narrow sedimentary basin that has active margins located to the north-northwest (active mainly during the Eocene) and to the south-southeast (active during the Oligocene). Both margins, consisting of shallow unstable platforms, were the source areas for the external-platform slope (in the opposite margins) and deep-basin (in the middle) depositional realms. The southern margin, lost under the Mediterranean Sea, is recognized only by the reconstructed Oligocene slope sediments.
The eight successions studied, on opposites external-platform-slope margins and the deep within the central part of the basin, lead us to divide the basin into two depositional realms: the subsident Western Depositional Area (WDA) and the not subsident Eastern Depositional Area (EDA). This study has also enabled us to divide the infilling of the basin into two depositional sequences: Eocene p.p. (EDS) and Oligocene p.p. (ODS) in age, respectively, bound by two sequence boundaries (unconformities) at the Early Eocene (P6 zone) and Early Oligocene (P19 zone). The EDS and ODS are comprised of turbiditic and olisthostromic deposits and frequently slumps, evidencing an active tectonic in the margin-basin system.
The correlation of the Paleogene sedimentary reconstructed in the Alicante Trough with other four synthetic successions throughout the External (three in the Subbetic Domain) and one in the Internal Betic Zone indicate a Paleogene generalised deformational framework. In addition, this evolution is contemporaneous to the Pyrenean, Iberian and the Nevado-Filabride Alpine deformation. The Paleogene tectonic recognised in the External Betic Zone is younger since the main orogenic deformation took place in the late Burdigalian to early Tortonian. The origin of these early tectonics is discussed in relation to the Nevado-Filabride Alpine deformation

Heritability and Linkage Analysis of Appendicitis Utilizing Age at Onset
No full textAppendicitis usually afflicts the young, but there is a large tail in the distribution of onset age. The genetics of this disease are still not well understood. A heritability analysis and genome wide linkage analysis of a large twin dataset was undertaken. Treating age of onset of appendicitis as a censored survival trait revealed a heritability of 0.21, and found evidence of linkage to Chromosome 1p37.3.
