A Florentine family in crisis: the Strozzi in the fifteenth century.
No full textPhDIn 1434 the Strozzi lineage had held a leading position in
Florentine society and government for at least one hundred and fifty
years, and was one of the largest and wealthiest of the city's
patrician lineages. The records of the catasto of 1427 and of the
scrutiny of 1433 are used to give a profile of the dominant social,
economic and political position of the Strozzi before the advent of
Medicean dominance. Their record of electoral success, and the
political and cultural leadership of influential and respected men
such as Palla di Nofri and Matteo di Simone, with other factors, put
the Strozzi amongst the greatest enemies of the victorious Medicean
regime of late 1434. The effects of political opposition and exile
on the lineage are examined both directly, through records of office-holding,
and indirectly through such indicators as marriage alliances
and household wealth. The two most prominent lines of the Strozzi
were exiled after 1434. Palla di Nofri's life and preoccupations in
his Paduan exile are examined, together with the lives of his sons;
none of these Strozzi ever returned to Florence, pursued as they were
by the enmity of the Medicean regime. The very different careers of
Filippo di Matteo and his brother Lorenzo are also examined: how they
succeeded in founding a lucrative bank in Naples, and in returning to
Florence to 'rebuild' (rifare) the position of the Strozzi lineage
there. The final decades of the century saw the Strozzi in an
economically more secure position, due substantially to the efforts
of Filippo. Except for a very small number of its members admitted
into the regime, most of the lineage is here shown to have remained
excluded from significant political office until after the fall of
the Medici regime in 1494

No full textIl tema del waterfront apre il campo a una serie di riflessioni sul rapporto città-natura che ha caratterizzato tutta la storia dell’architettura e della città. Nel caso del rapporto città-architettura-mare si tratta di un incontro tra artificiale e naturale condizionato da vincoli di vario genere: fisici, paesaggistici, normativi, funzionali. Il carattere, a volte, anonimo di questi ambiti urbani può trasformarsi in un’interessante potenzialità per la progettazione di luoghi del sublime, dove è possibile avviare nuove forme di immaginazione della città, per generare catalizzatori dei cambiamenti ambientali capaci di accogliere registri sia artificiali che naturali. In una città d’acqua con un consolidato carattere turistico, il lungomare può diventare un parco urbano-marino dove gli utenti sono intrattenuti da diverse attività ricreative, affiancate da edifici e cantieri con funzioni portuali che, se ben integrate nel parco, possono offrire suggestivi spunti di riflessione progettuale verso la concezione dell’anonimo e del banale come condizione potenzialmente creativa della città contemporanea

No full textLa Valle dei Templi, nell’immaginario collettivo, è classificabile come luogo del fenomeno figura-sfondo per eccellenza, perché contiene un gran numero di templi ma è anche un parco archeologico dove la componente paesaggio è molto incidente, accentuata dalle grandi dimensioni e dalle specificità del territorio siciliano. Se, invece, ci lasciamo ispirare dal lavoro di Eisenman per la Città della Cultura, possiamo considerare la Valle come un’implosione della storia che conserva, e trasformarla nel luogo del fenomeno figura-figura, dove le nuove architetture si fondono con la topografia, essendo completamente incise nel suolo. Si utilizza, così, una rappresentazione mentale diagrammatica, trascurando ed omettendo gli elementi superflui e analizzando i rapporti tra le parti del diagramma.
A questo ragionamento possiamo aggiungere una componente immaginativa, un’« immaginazione del diavolo. Mentre l’immaginazione del poeta si abbandona senza ritegno a orpelli accessori » questo tipo di immaginazione « si spoglia di abiti e carne lasciando apparire il nudo scheletro della verità che, rivelata, gli sta innanzi.» (Vidler cita Peirce, 2005

Autogenous platelet-rich plasma in combination with bovine-derived hydroxyapatite xenograft for treatment of a cystic lesion of the jaw
No full textIn the last 5 years, many studies about autogenous platelet-rich plasma have been undertaken pointing out its regenerative and reparative properties on tissues. The features of this product are an attribute of platelet cells, which, after cellular interactions, release growth factors. These molecules promote tissue healing and also induce cellular regeneration. Bone is a dynamic tissue subject to balanced processes of bony formation and reabsorption; autologous platelet gel or concentrate (PRP) can be used alone or in association with bony graft for the treatment of bony defect, cystic lesions, alveolar bone defects, and periodontal pockets. Its application fields are oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, and general surgery, and it can be applied particularly in patients with coagulation diseases. In our experience, a giant cystic lesion of the jaw was treated with PRP and granules of bovine-derived hydroxyapatite xenograft to enhance bony regeneration and promote tissue healing
Architecture and Culture: Virtuous Synergies between Agriculture and Landscape
No full textThis research was made after the preparation of a project coordinated by Marina Montuori in collaboration with Barbara Angi, Massimiliano Botti, Olivia Longo, Alessandro Muraca, Filippo Orsini, Angela Squassina. This research was based on the need to conceive an architecture taking into account the natural processes and the related anthropic mechanisms that determine the phenomenal reactions of a place. The analyzed case study has included an agricultural area in the locality Moceniga in the territory of Rosolina (RO), in the Po Delta Park. Agriculture is constantly approached to fish farming that becomes an added value as a tourist attraction. The rural landscape of Polesine is based on a complex mechanism that brings together all the environmental and productive aspects, to which add cultural aspects of the belonging context that define its specificity. The main objective of this research was to make synergistic agriculture, fish farming and landscape, allowing the latter an interesting evolution in the qualitative sense, untying agriculture and fish farming form their purely quantitative function in order to entrust them images of high aesthetic potential

No full textIl capitolo analizza la responsabilità civile per violazione del Regolamento (UE) 2016/679, con particolare riferimento all’art. 82 GDPR, che riconosce all’interessato il diritto al risarcimento dei danni materiali e immateriali derivanti da un trattamento illecito dei dati personali. Calabrese sostiene che la funzione del risarcimento non è soltanto compensativa, ma anche sistemica, in quanto strumento di attuazione effettiva del diritto fondamentale alla protezione dei dati. Attraverso l’esame della giurisprudenza della Corte di Giustizia, l’autore evidenzia come la perdita di controllo sui dati costituisca di per sé un pregiudizio risarcibile, indipendentemente dalla prova di un danno economico o morale concreto. L’analisi si sofferma inoltre sulle difficoltà di armonizzazione dei criteri di quantificazione del danno nei diversi ordinamenti nazionali e sulla tensione tra responsabilità oggettiva e principio di accountability. In conclusione, Calabrese propone un modello di responsabilità civile europeo ispirato al principio di “rischio privacy”, capace di conciliare tutela della persona e sostenibilità economica del trattamento dei dati
