Strack-Billerbeck, Orthodoxy and a Jewish New Testament
On the basis of the evidence of publications daing from the eighteenth century, this paper argues that the orthodox doctrine of the verbal inspiration the Bible caused extreme views on the language of the Old Testament which could maybe transferred to the "heathen" language of the New Testament. The resulting void was filled by focussing on the Jewish (read "Hebrew", thought of the New Testament. The work of Chistian Schoettgen, available the author in Vienna, is used in conjunction with the Critica sacra by Johan Gottlob Carpzov to develop the argument for the thesis. NOV. <p>(FIGS 1, 3, 5B, 6–8, TABLE 1, 2)</p> <p> <i>Holotype:</i> MTSN 9285, adult (gravid) female, collected at Chome Forest Reserve, South Pare Mountains (04°17′42.907″S, 37°56′18.612″E) by MM on 12 March 2008. This specimen has been sequenced for <i>12S</i> and <i>16 S</i>.
