A director's approach to Romulus Linney's A Woman Without a Name.
This MFA thesis documents a director's collaborative approach to Romulus Linney's play A Woman Without A Name produced on the stage of Theater 11 at Baylor University. The first chapter is a brief biography of the playwright, and explores his writing methodology. It further examines the production history of A Woman Without A Name and some critical reviews it has received. The second chapter analyzes the structural elements of the play. The third chapter provides an account of the collaborative design process with student designers, including an "e-design" phase, in the areas of set, costume, lighting, sound, and makeup. The final chapter provides an account of the overall production process from the auditions through the performances, followed by an evaluation of the design and rehearsal process and the performances

This reference to the Greek philosopher’s work Phaedrus occurs when the boy Raimond is about eight years old. He seems already to understand much about his father, in particular his father’s goodness, which he finds expressed in his workmanship, his honesty, and his commitment to friends.
