Making sense of altmetrics: The perceived threats and opportunities for academic identity
peer-reviewedHow research impact is defined and evaluated is much-debated at research policy level. Offering one avenue for capturing societal research impact, altmetrics are proposed as quantitative indicators providing a measure of the reach and attention that a research output, such as a peer-reviewed paper, is receiving online. Eighty publicly-funded food researchers participated in an online mixed-methods engagement study. The analytical framework of sensemaking was used to explore participants’ views of altmetrics as a threat or opportunity for their perceived professional identities. The identities important to our participants included ensuring rigour and quality in knowledge production; communicating and engaging with non-academic audiences; and bringing about tangible and meaningful changes in society. While an appetite for changes to research evaluation was apparent in our study, altmetrics was perceived to introduce a number of different threats as well as opportunities to the academic identity, which will influence its potential uptake and use.This study was funded through the CommBeBiz Project which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Project No: 652707 under call H2020-ISIB-2014-1

Systems Design for a Minicomputer-Based Library Data Management System
In the
past, most automated systems employed large, general purpose
processors, or very specialized applications software, usually both. An
approach employing either method does not support library automation in
any but the largest and best-financed libraries. Smaller libraries must either
affiliate with these
larger libraries or share equipment with nonlibrary applications. In either case,
processing methodologies, standards and equipment
decisions are made outside the affected library by persons unfamiliar with
their
requirements.
Current technology and pricing make this approach to library automation
unnecessarily restrictive to individual libraries and unnecessarily expensive
for the
library community. Equipment selected for its suitability in library-type problems combined with generalized data management software designed
for library

Reputation and its measurement. An institutional approach
The article deals with the issue of identifying and measuring institutions. As an example, reputation was taken into consideration. The analysis leads to the conclusion that reputation could be treated as an institution and could be measured in the context of its impact on economic outcomes. This measurement can be carried out at three levels of detail: micro, meso and macro, among these the third is the least recognised in new institutional economics.Publication of English-language versions of the volumes of the "Annales. Minimum Evolution tree of amino acid sequences for KPC-2 to KPC-17.
<p>KPC-15 carbapenemase was our newly discovered and appeared to be homogenous with KPC-4 closely. The amino acid sequences of KPCs based on the data of <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0111491#pone-0111491-g001" target="_blank">Figure 1</a>. This comparison was designed and analysed using MEGA 5.05 software.</p
Promoter elements of the <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> and <i>bla</i><sub>TEM</sub> genes in 8.997 kb-length nucleotide sequence.
<p>The sequence provided the upstream and downstream regions of <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> structural genes. The <i>tnpA</i> gene, which was upstream of the <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> (3,020 bp) gene, was homologous to a putative IS<i>Kpn8</i> transposon, and the downstream region of the <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> gene (1,320 bp) was homologous to a putative IS<i>Kpn6</i>-like transposon. The nucleotides upstream of the <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> and <i>bla</i><sub>TEM-12</sub> gene translational start codons were shown in the box. The putative −10 promoter elements of the <i>bla</i><sub>KPC-15</sub> gene were shown as <i>gattaa</i>, labeled as −10 below, and there were no obvious −35 promoter elements to be discovered in the promoter region. The putative −10 and −35 promoter elements of the <i>bla</i><sub>TEM-12</sub> gene were shown as <i>tataac</i> and <i>ttattg</i>, labeled as −10 and −35 below the promoter region. The start sites of transcription were indicated as G by +1 residue. RBS was the abbreviation of the ribosome binding site.</p
