    This interview is an oral history conducted by Linfield College archivist Rich Schmidt with Josef and Lilli Fleischmann of St. Josef\u27s Winery. The interview took place at St. Josef\u27s Winery in Canby, Oregon on November 9, 2018. Josef and Lilli Fleischmann are the founders of St. Josef\u27s Winery. In this interview, the Fleischmanns talk about how they came to the United States and eventually moved to Oregon, where they planted grapes and established a winery. They both discuss the difficulties in figuring out their roles within the wine industry, as well as how they came up with the name for their winery. Josef explains their winemaking philosophy, developed with much outside help and European influence. The Fleischmanns reflect on how far the wine industry has progressed since they first entered it, predicting that it will continue to grow in the future, and they share their hope that the family will continue their business

    This collection contains letters from Walter Zadek in Amsterdam to to his sister, Lilli in Israel; and letters from Lili-Popper, née Zadek, many from Palestine in the 1920s. Lilli Zadek writes to family and friends in Berlin and mentions the founding of a Jewish school in Berlin by Siegfried Lehman; she describes school and life in general Jerusalem; sends her friend poetry by Hayim Nahman Bialik and describes the 1927 earthquake in Palestine, and other facets of daily life there. Walter Zadek writes to Lilli with news from Europe including the detiorating political situation "mother gave me a letter with all the difficulties for them, all the Nazi annoyances" and "our Berlin friends are largely out of Germany- to France, Spain, England," as well as various projects he thinks about in Holland such as an illustrated publication.Photographer, born in Berlin in 1900, he emigrated to Holland in 1933, then the same year to Palestine.
