Maritime Port Freight Flow Optimization with Underground Container Logistics Systems Under Demand Uncertainty

    No full text
As global trade and container transportation continue to grow, port collection and distribution systems face increasing challenges, including congestion, inefficiency, and environmental impact. Traditional ground-based transportation methods often exacerbate these issues, especially under uncertain demand conditions. This study aims to optimize freight flow allocation in port collection and distribution networks by integrating traditional and innovative transportation modes, including underground container logistics systems, under demand uncertainty. A stochastic optimization model is developed, incorporating transportation, environmental, carbon tax and subsidy, and congestion costs while satisfying various constraints, such as capacity limits, time constraints, and low-carbon transport requirements. The model is solved using a hybrid algorithm combining an improved Genetic Algorithm and Simulated Annealing (GA-SA) with Deep Q-Learning (DQN). Numerical experiments and case studies, particularly focusing on A Port, demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly reduces total operational costs, congestion, and environmental impacts while enhancing system robustness under uncertain demand conditions. The findings highlight the potential of underground logistics systems to improve port logistics efficiency, providing valuable insights for future port management strategies and the integration of sustainable transportation modes

A Three Stage Optimal Scheduling Algorithm for AGV Route Planning Considering Collision Avoidance under Speed Control Strategy

With the trend of terminal automation and the requirement for port operation efficiency to be greatly improved, it is very necessary to optimize the traveling route of automatic guided vehicles (AGV) with reference to the connection of loading and unloading equipment. As a complex multi-equipment system, it is inevitable that AGV will collide when traveling due to various accidents in actual operation, which will lead to AGV locking and reduce the efficiency of terminal operation. Considering the locking problem of AGV, we propose a three-stage integrated scheduling algorithm for AGV route planning. Through joint optimization with quay cranes (QC) and yard blocks, a road network model is established in the front area of the container port to optimize the path of AGV in the road network, and a speed control strategy is proposed to solve the problem of AGV collision avoidance. In the first stage, we establish the AGV optimal route model with the goal of minimizing the AGV path according to the AGV road network situation. In the second stage, on the basis of the determination of AGV route planning, and when the container task is known, the AGV task assignment model is established with the goal of minimizing the maximum completion time, and the model is solved by genetic algorithm (GA). In the third stage, on the basis of AGV task assignment and route determination, the AGV route and AGV task assignment scheme are input into the simulation model by establishing the AGV collision avoidance control model for speed control, and establishing the AGV route network simulation model for automated terminals considering collision avoidance in plant simulation software. The maximum completion time obtained from the simulation model is compared with the completion time obtained from the genetic algorithm. The proposed three-stage joint scheduling algorithm can improve the loading and unloading efficiency of the port, reduce the AGV locking situation, and has a certain contribution to the formulation of the actual operation planning of the port

eIF5A hypusination, boosted by dietary spermidine, protects from premature brain aging and mitochondrial dysfunction

Summary Mitochondrial function declines during brain aging and is suspected to play a key role in age-induced cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. Supplementing levels of spermidine, a body-endogenous metabolite, has been shown to promote mitochondrial respiration and delay aspects of brain aging. Spermidine serves as the amino-butyl group donor for the synthesis of hypusine (Nε-[4-amino-2-hydroxybutyl]-lysine) at a specific lysine residue of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A). Here, we show that in the Drosophila brain, hypusinated eIF5A levels decline with age but can be boosted by dietary spermidine. Several genetic regimes of attenuating eIF5A hypusination all similarly affect brain mitochondrial respiration resembling age-typical mitochondrial decay and also provoke a premature aging of locomotion and memory formation in adult Drosophilae. eIF5A hypusination, conserved through all eukaryotes as an obviously critical effector of spermidine, might thus be an important diagnostic and therapeutic avenue in aspects of brain aging provoked by mitochondrial decline

    No full text
This study delves into the pivotal role of shipper satisfaction in cultivating efficacious cooperation between dry ports and seaports. The research endeavors herein present a comprehensive indicator system tailored to evaluate the efficacy of the cooperation of the sea ports and dry ports. This system encompasses 14 key indicators, thoughtfully categorized into four dimensions, offering a holistic perspective on the multifaceted factors that underscore the synergy between dry ports and seaports. The establishment of a performance evaluation model for this collaborative nexus draws upon the support vector machine (SVM) technique, a choice substantiated by its suitability for the available dataset and its relevance within the research context. Leveraging the indicator data as a training dataset, the SVM approach culminates in the construction of a cooperative matrix, ultimately facilitating the discernment of performance rankings within dry port and seaport collaboration. This research methodology not only yields valuable insights into the evaluation of this distinct collaboration but also presents a versatile framework with potential application for addressing various challenges encountered within the cooperative milieu of dry ports and seaports
