Kwalita’ tal-ħajja għat-tarbija li se titwieled

Fl-aħħar ħmistax-il sena psikologi ewlenin ikkonfermaw permezz ta’riċerka medika u l-esperjenza klinika li t-tarbija fil-ġuf tisma ', ittiegħem, tħoss, u titgħallem; u dak li tesperjenza jibda jifforma l-attitudnijiet u l-aspettattivi tagħha dwarha nnifisha. Huwa ta 'importanza kbira allura, li aħna nifhmu dan is-suġġett tajjeb biżżejjed, biex inkunu nistgħu nipprovdu l-aħjar ambjent u ħajja ta’ kwalita’ għat-tarbija fil-ġuf. Iżda ħa niehdu pass wieħed wara l-ieħor ... Nixtieq li naqsam dawn il-ftit ħsibijiet magħkom, liebsa l-kpiepel differenti tiegħi ta’ social worker u akkademika fil-qasam, ħaddiema volontarja maż-żgħażagħ u adulti għal ħafna snin, chairperson tal-kummissjoni nazzjonali familja - fejn aħna nikkonċernaw ruhna dwar il-benesseri tal-membri kollha tal-familja – u fl-aħħar u mhux l-inqas omm ta 'żewġt itfal u omm li esperjenzajt it-telfa u l-uġigħ ta’ miscarriage. Dan ma kienx sempliċiment esperjenza medika, iżda esperjenza profondament emozzjonali! Jiena ħdimt u għadni naħdem ma' żgħażagħ u adulti li jkunu qed jesperjenzaw sens profond ta' rifjut, ansjetà, sens li qatt ma jistgħu jogħġbu lil ħadd, wisq inqas lilhom infushom. Permezz ta’ ħidma intensiva, spiss jirnexxielna nittraċċaw l-għeruq ta 'dawn il-kwistjonijiet, għall-ħajja tagħhom fil-ġuf. Tfal mhux mixtieqa, tfal mhux ippjanati; tfal li ommhom riedu jabortixxu; tfal li baqgħu ħajjin wara attentat ta’ abort ... it-taqlib psikoloġiku u emozzjonali li jkunu qed jesperjenzaw fil-ħajja tagħhom huwa ta’ qsim il-qalb. Qrajt u qsamt hafna stejjer kliniċi ta' psikoterapewti u ta' counsellors li esperjenzaw sitwazzjonijiet simili. Ir-riċerka fil-qasam qed tindika b'mod ċar li t-tarbija fil-ġuf hija sensittiva, tħoss, hija konxja u tista’ tiftakar. Psikologi prenatali huma konvinti li l-qofol tal-personalità tal-bniedem tifforma fil-ġuf. Studji juru li din il-formazzjoni tal-personalità isseħħ permezz ta' komunikazzjoni intensiva bejn il-ġenituri - speċjalment l-omm - u t-tarbija fil-ġuf. Hija l-kombinazzjoni ta' dawn ir-realtajiet li wassluni biex nagħżel li nitkellem dwar dan is-suġġett. Nemmen bis-sħiħ li nistgħu niżguraw li t-tfal jikbru f’ambjent kemm jista’ jkun pożittiv, mill-mument tal-konċepiment. Il-ġuf huwa d-dinja ewlenija tat-tfal – u dawn it-tfal jistgħu jesperjenzaw din id-dinja bħala faċli jew bħala ostili. Huwa inkontestabbli li l-kwalità tal-ambjent u l-kwalita’ tal-ħajja fil-ġuf, hija determinata prinċipalment millġenituri.peer-reviewe

Lithium Toxicity in Lepidium sativum L. Seedlings: Exploring Li Accumulation’s Impact on Germination, Root Growth, and DNA Integrity

The predicted increase in demand for minor metals for modern technologies raises major concerns regarding potential environmental concentration increases. Among the minor metals, lithium (Li) is particularly noteworthy due to growing demand for battery production. Concerns have been raised about the impact on biota of increasing Li concentrations in the environment. To expand the knowledge of the effects of Li on plants, garden cress (Lepidium sativum L.), a model plant for ecotoxicity assay, was tested in a 72 h test in Petri plates. The results showed a stimulation effect of Li at the lowest concentration (Li chloride 10 mg L−1) on seed germination and primary root elongation. Conversely, higher Li concentrations (50 and 150 mg L−1) caused a progressive impairment in both parameters. A genotoxic effect of Li on root cells, evaluated through the alkaline comet assay, was observed at each concentration tested, particularly at 150 mg L−1 Li chloride. Elemental analysis showed that Li accumulated in the seedlings in a dose–concentration relationship, confirming its ability to be readily absorbed and accumulated in plants. Given the likely increase in Li levels in the environment, further research is required to clarify the toxicity mechanisms induced by Li on growth and nucleic acids

Synthesis of L-glucose and L-galactose derivatives from D-sugars

    No full text
An efficient route to prepare L-glucose and L-galactose is described. The L-sugars are achieved by using the strategy of switching the functional groups at C1 and C5 of D-glucose and D-mannose. The oxidation and reduction of the silyl enol ether at C1 and the lead(IV) tetraacetate mediated oxidative decarboxylation at C5 are the key steps. L-Glucose and L-galactose are prepared in a convenient and inexpensive way. (C) 2014 Shu-Chun Li and Zhong-Jun Li. Published by Elsevier B.V. on behalf of Chinese Chemical Society. The amoebal MAP kinase response to Legionella pneumophila is regulated by DupA

The amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum can support replication of Legionella pneumophila. Here we identify the dupA gene, encoding a putative tyrosine kinase/dual-specificity phosphatase, in a screen for D. discoideum mutants altered in allowing L. pneumophila intracellular replication. Inactivation of dupA resulted in depressed L. pneumophila growth and sustained hyperphosphorylation of the amoebal MAP kinase ERK1, consistent with loss of a phosphatase activity. Bacterial challenge of wild-type amoebae induced dupA expression and resulted in transiently increased ERK1 phosphorylation, suggesting that dupA and ERK1 are part of a response to bacteria. Indeed, over 500 of the genes misregulated in the dupA(-) mutant were regulated in response to L. pneumophila infection, including some thought to have immune-like functions. MAP kinase phosphatases are known to be highly upregulated in macrophages challenged with L. pneumophila. Thus, DupA may regulate a MAP kinase response to bacteria that is conserved from amoebae to mammals

Luminescence quenching measurements on zeolite L monolayers

    No full text
The luminescence quenching of the oxygen sensitive Ru2+ complex (Ru-ph4-TMS) used as a stopcock and attached to a zeolite L monolayer has been investigated. The luminescence lifetime of the attached Ru-ph4-TMS was the same under N2 and under O2 atmosphere. This remarkable result is attributed to the shielding provided by the channels of the zeolite L crystals arranged as a monolayer. The emitting 3MLCT state of the Ru-ph4-TMS stopcock is localized on the ligand bearing the phenyl groups forming the tail of this complex, which deeply penetrates into the zeolite L channel

    L-ilsien Malti għal qalbi

F’diskursata dwar il-lingwa spiss jingħad kemm għandna għax inkunu kburin bil-Malti: “Hawn pajjiżi ferm ikbar minn tagħna li jużaw il-lingwa ta’ ħaddieħor, u aħna – daqsxejn ta’ gżira – ixxurtjati li għandna l-ilsien tagħna.” Tisma’ li għandna nagħmlu “minn kollox” biex il-lingwa “nibżgħu għaliha” u “ma nitilfuhiex” għax tagħtina identità. Imma meta tipprova toħdilhom minn rashom x’jifhmu b’“minn kollox” ħafna qajla jsemmulek, ngħidu aħna, li jistgħu jibdew huma stess mid-dar billi jkellmu lil uliedhom u lin-neputijiet żgħar bil-Malti. Il-lingwa b’hekk “nibżgħu għaliha” għax ngħadduha lill-ġenerazzjonijiet li tilgħin f’kull kuntest. Jekk lit-tfal inrawmuhom jesprimu ruħhom aktar jew bl-Ingliż biss, għada pitgħada wħud minnhom ikunu l-uffiċjali pubbliċi li jużaw l-Ingliż biss fuq ix-xogħol għax il-Malti ma jħossuhx naturali. U nibqgħu nisimgħu l-ilmenti (ġusti) li l-Malti qed inwarrbuh.peer-reviewe

Interface-Engineered Li7La3Zr2O12-Based Garnet Solid Electrolytes with Suppressed Li-Dendrite Formation and Enhanced Electrochemical Performance

    No full text
High grain-boundary resistance, Li-dendrite formation, and electrode/Li interfacial resistance are three major issues facing garnet-based solid electrolytes. Herein, interfacial architecture engineering by incorporating 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide (BMP-TFSI) ionic liquid into a garnet oxide is proposed. The “soft” continuous BMP-TFSI coating with no added Li salt generates a conducting network facilitating Li+ transport and thus changes the ion conduction mode from point contacts to face contacts. The compacted microstructure suppresses Li-dendrite growth and shows good interfacial compatibility and interfacial wettability toward Li metal. Along with a broad electrochemical window larger than 5.5 V and an Li+ transference number that practically reaches unity, LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2/Li and LiFePO4/Li solid-state batteries with the hybrid solid electrolyte exhibit superior cycling stability and low polarization, comparable to those with commercial liquid electrolytes, and excellent rate capability that is better than those of Li-salt-based ionic-liquid electrolytes.Accepted Author ManuscriptRST/Storage of Electrochemical Energ
