No full textY. R. Chao is easily the most famous linguist to have come out of China. Born before the end of the last dynasty in China, he received a traditional Confucian education, but was also one of the first Chinese people to be sent to the West for training in modern Western science (under the Boxer Indemnity Fund). The remarkable breadth and scope of his studies included physics, mathematics, linguistics, musical and literary composition, and translation, and he was a pioneer in many of these fields

No full textWe reduce the leading term in Lehman's theorem. This improved estimate allows us to refine the main theorem of Bays and Hudson [2]. Entering 2,000,000 Riemann zeros, we prove that there exists x in the interval [exp (727.951858), exp (727.952178)] for which ?(x) - li(x) > 3.2 × 10151. There are at least 10154 successive integers x in this interval for which ?(x) > li(x). This interval is strictly a sub-interval of the interval in Bays and Hudson, and is narrower by a factor of about 12

Date collected: 2011.V.25 (2010.V.25, in the original description, is incorrect). Collector: Li-Chao TIAN & Gui-Qiang HUANG. Paratypes: 1 female, China, Yunnan, Lincang City, 1980.VI.1, Fen LIU leg. Remarks: In the original description, the type locality is “ Yunnan, Jinghong” while it is “ Yunnan, Yutang” according to the label. “Yutang” is actually in Pu’er, not Jinghong. The first author described the type locality by mistake.
