Basionym: Ophioglossum engelmannii Prantl (1883: 351) ≡ “ Whittieria engelmannii (Prantl) Li Bing Zhang & Liang Zhang ” (2022: 24), nom. inval. Type:— U.S.A. Texas: Comanche Spring, New Braunfels, May 1849, F.J. Lindheimer 1281 (lectotype MO201251!, here designated, isolectotypes FI003993!, K001057659!, MEXU00085077!, MEXU00000139!, TEX00348044!). Remaining syntypes: U.S.A. Texas: May 1849, F.J. Lindheimer 95 (MO251338!). U.S.A. Texas: Comanche Spring, Bexar County, May 1849, F.J. Lindheimer 53 (GH00021725!, FI003992!). Notes:— In the protologue (Prantl 1883), there were no specific gatherings cited but only “Nordamerika” (North America) was given. According to Stafleu & Cowan (1983: 379), K.A.E. Prantl’s herbarium and types are mainly at “HBG (esp. Pteridophyta)”. We searched the database of HBG (www.herbariumhamburgense.de), and only found three gatherings of Ophioglossum from Namibia and South Africa. In Tropicos (tropicos.org), four gathering are indicated as “T” (type) or “ST” (syntypes). We found three of the four gatherings in various herbaria (see above) in JSTOR (plants.jstor.org) but could not find Engelmann s.n collected before 1883. We here designated the one of the duplicates of F.J. Lindheimer 1281 at MO as the lectotype. This species has three unique features: growing in basic soils, double venation (large areoles of the sterile blade subdivided into smaller areoles; Wagner & Wagner 1994), and 71 days of spore germination time (Whittier 1981, Zhang & Zhang 2022). Zero-Forcing and Minimum Mean-Square Error Multiuser Detection in Generalized Multicarrier DS-CDMA Systems for Cognitive Radio
No full textIn wireless communications multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC DS-CDMA) constitutes one of the highly flexible multiple-access schemes. MC DS-CDMA employs a high number of degrees-of-freedom, which are beneficial to design and reconfiguration for communications in dynamic communications environments, such as in the cognitive radios. In this contribution we consider the multiuser detection (MUD) in MC DS-CDMA, which motivates low-complexity, high-flexibility and robustness so that the MUD schemes are suitable for deployment in dynamic communications environments. Specifically, a range of low-complexity MUDs are derived based on the zero-forcing (ZF), minimum mean-square error (MMSE) and interference cancellation (IC) principles. The bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the MC DS-CDMA aided by the proposed MUDs is investigated by simulation approaches. Our study shows that, in addition to the advantages provided by a general ZF, MMSE or IC-assisted MUD, the proposed MUD schemes can be implemented using modular structures, where most modules are independent of each other. Due to the independent modular structure, in the proposed MUDs one module may be reconfigured without yielding impact on the others. Therefore, the MC DS-CDMA in conjunction with the proposed MUDs constitutes one of the promising multiple-access schemes for communications in the dynamic communications environments such as in the cognitive radios

No full textStreet Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li movie revolves around the journey of Chun Li, a Chinese female fighter of the Street Fighter series, and her eventual fight against Bison. This study focuses on the portrayal of Chun Li as a representative of Asian women in an American movie, and compares it to her original portrayal in the game. There are two big groups of representation of Asian women in the Western media: the submissive ‘lotus blossom baby’ and the aggressive ‘dragon lady.’ As a form of content analysis, this study analyzes both textual and visual elements of the Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li movie and Street Fighter game series which represent the portrayal of an Asian woman character named Chun Li. Result shows that Chun Li character in the movie leans more towards the ‘dragon lady’ group with her strong and seductive characteristics, while her game self exhibits a broader range of qualities
