    This essay points to the importance of German-brazilian ethno-logist Curt Unkel Nimuendaju.s photographic work. His public-cations and fieldworks are the ways to outline some possible researches for the knowledge of this specific activity in many contributions of the author to the ethnology. So we find out that Curt Unkel Nimuendaju was a photographer mostly involved with the people to whom he studied; neither the way he used the photographs nor the photographs themselves can.t be forgotten and demand efforts to recollect this dimension of his work in Brazil.Este ensaio aponta para a importância do trabalho fotográfico do alemão, naturalizado brasileiro, Curt Unkel Nimuendaju. Imagens de suas publicações e trabalhos de campo fornecem pistas para o conhecimento desta atividade específica no con-junto das várias contribuições do autor para a Etnologia.
