No full textThis 52 page pamphlet is titled "The Fundamentals of Baseball". It was written by Leslie Mann, a former Major League baseball player and Springfield College Alum and coach. The pamphlet is undated but it was most likely created during the early 1920's as printed companion to a slide or movie projection of his training/coaching program. The pamphlet outlines techniques to play the game of baseball and matches them up with a collection of slides of professional baseball players in the early '20s showing these techniques. No full textLeslie arrived in Alice Springs in 1969 on a working holiday. She worked as a secretary and personal assistant to E. J. Connellan founder of Connellan Airways from 1969-81. Leslie was employed as Electorate Secretary to the Member for Stuart for two years and was elected Alderman of the Alice Springs Town Council in 1978. From 1980-1982 Leslie served as deputy Mayor of the Council and in 1983 made local history by becoming Alice Springs first woman mayor. Leslie was Mayor of Alice Springs from 1983-1992.
She was the foundation secretary of the Alice Springs Spastic Council serving as president and vice-president and quest coordinator. Leslie has worked tirelessly towards promoting cultural and entertainment events and she was twice appointed to the Araluen Arts and Cultural Trust for three year terms (1908-6).Leslie was a foundation secretary and member of the Central Australian Aviation Museum; a member of the Alice Springs Town Planning Authority; the Australia Day Council (NT); the Alice Springs Golf Club; Alice Springs Art Society, Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Stockmen's Hall of Fame.
She was a Life member of the Central Australian Aviation Museum. Leslie supported the National Heart Foundation and the Northern Territory Council of the Ageing.Government AdministrationEnglis

No full textThis is a 24 page pamphlet titled "Baseball Fundamentals" written by Leslie Mann and published by the United States Amateur Baseball Association sometime in the 1930s. Leslie Mann was the National director of the US Amateur Baseball Association at the time. Pamphlet talks about the Association and how Baseball builds character, including Avery Brundage's "Code of Ideas." The rest of the Pamphlet uses photographs & diagrams to lay out the fundamentals of baseball, including batting, bunting, sliding, and base running.
