ELIE-minating poverty? Limits of the mechanism and potential improvements

    No full text
Using French data, we show that ELIE performs rather weakly when it comes to addressing the issue of poverty. Yet, eliminating poverty is also a valid normative property of any redistribution mechanism. We suggest combining ELIE with another redistributive solution aimed specifically at alleviating poverty: the personal allowance (PERAL) mechanism (Leroux, 2004 and 2007). We argue that ELIE and the PERAL mechanism, more than being compatible, are in fact complementary.

Leonard de Bona was a businessman, possibly of Italian descent, in Eagle Pass, Texas, who ran a hardware and supply store in that area for nearly 20 years. He served as a point of contact for customers throughout South Texas and nearby Mexico, providing not only hardware but food, clothing, and sundries. He had business contacts in San Antonio, Chicago, and abroad (Central Mexico, Italy, and other locations.)Archive of Correspondence relating to L. de Bona's Eagle Pass Hardware and Supply Store from 1887-1903 and undated. Approximately 500 letters, varying states of condition, some browning. An important archive for a businessman on the border in Eagle Pass, Texas with nearly 500 letters, most from neighboring Texas communities, order supplies.Organized by the following series: Correspondence and ChronologicalBona, L. de, Papers, 1887-1903 and undated, Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TexasOffice of Leroux & Cosgrove - Wholesale Dealers in Hardware - Agricultural Implements, Stoves, Ammunition, Tinware, Iron & Wagon Timber

Prediction of radiated electromagnetic emissions from PCB traces based on Green dyadics

    No full text
Because it costs to solve ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) problems late in the development process, new methods have to predict radiated electromagnetic emissions at the design stage. In the case of complex printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) containing embedded microstrips and a large number of nets, a tradeoff between accuracy and simulation time must be found for this evaluation. In this paper the basic algorithm used within a new emissions predictive analysis tool: ElectroMagnetic Interferences Radiated (EMIR) is presented. It is able to take accurately into account the actual cross section between the metal plane and the air for each PCB trace. It is compared to theoretical formulas for validation. The effects of superstrate (cover) on a dipole radiation are describe
