Portraits of Leonardo da Vinci
Full text linkUsing an iterative method, applied to image processing, a portrait of a young man, probably a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, is restored. Merging this portrait with the self-portrait in red chalk, we can have the features of a middle-aged Leonardo. This digital portrait can be compared with the image of Plato, depicted by Raphael in the Scuola di Atene, generally considered as a portrait of Leonardo. The iterative method used for the image processing had been developed by the author on previous iterative calculations used to solve the Boltzmann equatio

No full textThis article is devoted to outlining a theory of graphic/written communication in the frame of a visual communication paradigm in Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks. He practiced a continuous integration between different tools of expression and described a printing technique that was able to preserve this complexity. His notes on the relationship between words and images are few, especially when compared with the notes on differences between them. However, with a patient approach, systematizing previous works and thanks to new examples and lexical clarification, it is possible to outline a structured vision that allows us to put Leonardo in the conceptual equipment of any theorist of communication
