Polemon neuwiedi Jan 1858
Polemon neuwiedi (Jan, 1858) MATERIAL EXAMINED. — No available specimen. DISTRIBUTION. — In Togo, this species has been mentioned from "Klien Popo", now Aneho, by Sternfeld (1908a-b, 1909) and Loveridge (1944: 173). Werner (1898; as Miodon gabonensis) mentioned from Togo a specimen of Polemon gabonensis (Duméril, 1858). The current distribution of this species extends from eastern Nigeria to Congo (Chippaux 2006). It is hence likely that Werner's specimen should be referred to Polemon neuwiedi, although another taxon of the same genus cannot be ruled out. This confusion may also apply to the Togolese record of Polemon collaris (Peters, 1881) in Werner (1898). This author was merely followed by Sternfeld (1908b, 1909) but Loveridge (1944) doubted about the occurrence of this latter species in Togo. Prosymna gregerti Mocquard, 1906 (Fig. 7) MATERIAL EXAMINED. — 1 specimen (MNHN 2006.2190), Mango. MORPHOLOGY. — TL 273 mm; 15 MSR, smooth; 151 Ven smooth; 35 Sc; anal single; 5 supralabials; 7 infralabials; 1 preocular; 2 postocular; temporal scale formula 1 + 2 + 3. DISTRIBUTION. — This species inhabits Sudan savannahs (ER I). Previously it had been described from Togo (Mango) by Sternfeld (1908b) as Prosymna meleagris var. collaris Sternfeld, 1908. This form was subsequently synonymized with Prosymna meleagris (Reinhardt, 1843) by Loveridge (1958). Trape & Mané (2006b) revalidated Prosymna gregerti Mocquard, 1906 as a valid taxon. This species was mentioned fom northern Togo by Villiers (1951) and Villiers & Condamin (2005).Published as part of Segniagbeto, Gabriel Hoinsoude, Trape, Jean François, David, Patrick, Ohler, Annemarie, Dubois, Alain & Glitho, Isabelle Adolé, 2011, The snake fauna of Togo: systematics, distribution and biogeography, with remarks on selected taxonomic problems, pp. 325-360 in Zoosystema 33 (3) on page 345, DOI: 10.5252/z2011n3a4, http://zenodo.org/record/454701

Introduction
This is the introduction to a book in which Schweighauser traces the acoustic imagination of American literature from naturalism to postmodernism. He reads the noises writers represent as fictional responses to the social, cultural, and political changes and conflicts of modernity and postmodernity. Exploring the social functions of literature, he also suggests that literature itself, in its constant search for new language forms, has become a source of revitalizing noise in the channels of cultural communication.
The author provides substantial new readings of a broad range of canonical texts, from the naturalism of Theodore Dreiser, Frank Norris, and Stephen Crane to the modernism of Jean Toomer, Zora Neale Hurston, John Dos Passos, and Djuna Barnes, to the postmodernism of Thomas Pynchon, Ishmael Reed, and Don DeLillo. Across almost 100 years of literary history, he listens to the hum of traffic and the fracas of war and to immigrant accents and African-American vocalization. From the late 19th-century writers' often anxious responses to the new soundscapes brought about by industrialization and urbanization, to the modernists' decision to let the noises of social discontent seep into the very forms of their texts, to late 20th-century literary oscillations between acoustic mysticism and ecological critique, he shows that changing representations of sound indicate writers' stances on issues of class, gender, and race.
Drawing on soundscape studies, systems theory, sociology, media archaeology, and literary theory, this book explores the acoustic worlds and changing social functions of American literature

Continuidade Operacional. Agressividade Tributária

Study of Optimal Perimetric Testing In Children (OPTIC): Normative visual field values in children
Purpose: We sought to define normative visual field (VF) values for children using common clinical test protocols for kinetic and static perimetry. Design: Prospective, observational study. Subjects: We recruited 154 children aged 5 to 15 years without any ophthalmic condition that would affect the VF (controls) from pediatric clinics at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Methods: Children performed perimetric assessments in a randomized order using Goldmann and Octopus kinetic perimetry, and Humphrey static perimetry (Swedish Interactive Thresholding Algorithm [SITA] 24-2 FAST), in a single sitting, using standardized clinical protocols, with assessment by a single examiner. Unreliable results (assessed qualitatively) were excluded from the normative data analysis. Linear, piecewise, and quantile mixed-effects regression models were used. We developed a method to display age-specific normative isopters graphically on a VF plot to aid interpretation. Main Outcome Measures: Summary measures and graphical plots describing normative VF data for 3 common perimetric tests. Results: Visual field area increased with age on testing with Goldmann isopters III4e, I4e, and I2e (linear regression; P < 0.001) and for Octopus isopters III4e and I4e (linear regression; P < 0.005). Visual field development occurs predominately in the infero-temporal field. Humphrey mean deviation (MD) showed an increase of 0.3 decibels (dB; 95% CI, 0.21-0.40) MD per year up to 12 years of age, when adult MD values were reached and thereafter maintained. Conclusions: Visual field size and sensitivity increase with age in patterns that are specific to the perimetric approach used. These developmental changes should be accounted for when interpreting perimetric test results in children, particularly when monitoring change over time
