The study is embedded in intermediate long-term care, which represents a dynamic system with regard to demographic development and the increasing complexity of the social problems being solved. In the study, the small effectiveness of linearly conceived changes is demonstrated on historical development. Using the method of action research, the author examines the process of change - the integration of palliative care into a social service, which is based on the framework of a specific organization and from the beginning has the ambition to ensure a societal impact. At the end of the study, the author formulates key principles for the implementation of changes of a similar type. Person-centered Care in Residential Care Facility for the Elderly
No full textThe aim of this thesis is to identify and to describe barriers to the implementation of person-centered care in specific residential care facility for the elderly. For this purpose, the author firstly conceptualizes the concept of person-centered care. Consequently, she develops the Framework for conducting research. The theoretical portion consists of five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the person- centered care concept introduction, then it describes the relationship between concepts 'individualization of care' and 'person-centered care'. In the conclusion of the first chapter, the Schema of the concept is introduced. The Schema visualizes the structure for chapters two to five. In those chapters, a description of the systems defined in the Schema is provided. Those are: Care Recipients, Direct Care Actors, and Service Providers. The end of the first part brings the topic of a suitable organizational culture. The empirical portion firstly offers the summary of the theoretical background - so follows the Framework for the consequent analysis and data interpretation - then introduces relevant aspects within researched organization, particularly within organization currently implemented a psychobiographical model of care that is the approach to person-centered care. Strengthening Reflective Practice among Caregivers in a Selected Home for the Elderly
No full textThe thesis addresses the use of reflective practice in the daily routines of social service workers, specifically caregivers in a selected home for the elderly. The work builds upon the author's previous research conducted in the same home for the elderly. The findings from this research highlighted the need for control and systematic learning in the caregivers' practice. The challenge is to establish a system where caregivers operate on their own initiative, without the need for managerial oversight, and take personal responsibility. In response, the author proposes strengthening reflective practice among caregivers. The theoretical foundations of the thesis include learning organizations, the role of workers in social services, the structure of education, team leadership, cooperation among social service workers, onboarding, and methods for caregiver development. The main objective of the research is to analyze the potential for progress in reflective practice (learning) among caregivers, and based on this, propose ways to enhance reflective practice. The analysis was conducted using the method of reflective thematic analysis based on semi-structured interviews with nine respondents from the selected home for the elderly, including two department heads of direct care services, two off-shift..
7 Habits and principles of management
No full textThis thesis aims to identify the principles that managers use in their work. The work of Stephen Covey "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" is used as an object of research. Primarily, a Covey's claim that the 7 habits are universal and timeless is analyzed, in an effort to identify universal principles of effectivity and their relationship to management. All of the habits are paraphrased and compared to the work of other popular authors from the area of social sciences. Subsequently, a comparison between the 7 habits and historical development of organization theory and its lessons is conducted. Further along, a description of critical reflection of the 7 habits from five standpoints is presented: post-modern, feminism, critical pedagogy, non-functionalism and exclusive representation. Finally, the author of the thesis presents his personal experience with implementing the 7 habits in his professional and personal life. From the findings, this thesis comes to the conclusion that Covey's system of 7 habits is possibly a quality source of information when searching for universal principles of effectivity. Práce navazuje na předchozí výzkum autorky práce ve stejném domově pro seniory. Z tohoto výzkumu vyplynula potřeba kontroly a systematického učení v praxi u pečovatelů. Výzvou je nastavení fungování tak, aby pečovatelé fungovali z vlastní iniciativy, bez nutné kontroly vedoucího, měli vlastní zodpovědnost. Na to reaguje autorka práce myšlenkou posílení reflektivní praxe u pečovatelů. Mezi teoretická východiska diplomové práce patří učící se organizace, role pracovníka v sociálních službách, struktura vzdělávání, vedení týmu, spolupráce pracovníků v sociální službě, zaškolování a způsoby rozvoje pečovatelů. Hlavním cílem výzkumu je analyzovat prostor pro posun v reflektivní praxi (učení se) u pečovatelů, a na základě toho navrhnout způsoby, jak reflektivní praxi u pečovatelů posílit. Sexuality in Elderly Care Homes - Staff Perspective

The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the concepts of Quality of Life and Active Aging, and a Person-Centered Approach provides the ethical framework. Sexuality is presented as one of the key aspects of being human, and a wide range of its meanings are explored, arguing for its timeless relevance regardless of a person's age. Although intimacy and sexuality in old age remain a societal taboo, staff in residential aged care are frequently confronted with them in their work. The aim of the thesis is to describe the perception of intimacy and sexuality among the clients of these services from the perspective of the staff, using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Stále častěji prorůstá do odborných diskuzí a po malých krůčcích i do reality péče v některých pečujících organizacích. Cílem předpokládané diplomové práce je tvorba evaluačního nástroje pro práci se sexualitou seniorek a seniorů v pobytových sociálních službách v oblasti kompetencí zaměstnanců a jejich opory v organizačních strukturách. Vznikne tak soubor indikátorů stěžejních v práci se sexualitou klientů, které svou přenositelností umožňují dalším organizacím toto téma evaluovat a identifikovat tak prostor pro rozvoj. This thesis aims to create a tool that may be used for the evaluation of the as-is state regarding sexuality the of the elderly. It focuses mainly on the attitudes, and competencies of the staff of aged care, and their support in the organizational structure. No full text1 Abstract The diploma thesis "The role of a social worker in a psychiatric hospital - challenges and limits of work" deals with the profession of a social worker in a psychiatric hospital. The diploma thesis normally consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part is focused on mental illness, the characteristics of serious mental illness, the profession of a social worker working in a psychiatric hospital, multidisciplinary cooperation, the specifics of working with the mentally ill, the reform of psychiatric care and the organization of inpatient psychiatric care in the Czech Republic. In the empirical part, the qualitative research methodology is described and the data, which are the result of semi-structured interviews with social workers and their clients, are interpreted. At the end of the thesis, the main research question is answered, recommendations for practice and proposals for further research are included. The Importance of Communication in a Relation to the Comparison the Expectations of Relatives of Clients in Residential Home with a Real Practice
No full textThis master thesis deals with the issue of expectations of relatives of residential care clients in the concrete Residential home, and it also discusses the topic of communication between relatives of those clients and employees from this organization. First of all, the thesis describes the theoretical basis of the issue, while the attention is paid to the term of old age and possibilities of an elderly support. Than the process of transition to a residential home is described, as well as the possibilities of cooperation between the staff and clients' relatives. The aim of this thesis is to through semi-structured interviews find out how can the clients' relatives learn about the real picture of care in the Residential home and how it corresponds with their expectations. The attention is also paid to evaluation of the system of communication between these actors. The results indicate no expectations of the relatives about this kind of social service. The research identified different perception of communication frequency within both groups of informers.
