No full textEste artículo trata de las traducciones en judeoespañol de las novelas del rabino neo-ortodoxo alemán Marcus Lehmann (1831-1890). Forman un conjunto de obras narrativas de problemática judía en las que se resalta el arquetipo del buen judío. Marcus Lehmann publicó estas novelitas con claro objetivo instructivo y
moralizante en forma de folletones a lo largo del año 1867, que entran por primera vez en el mundo sefardí gracias a sus versiones traducidas al judeoespañol, difundidas entre 1871 y 1893 en diferentes publicaciones sefardíes vienesas
dirigidas por el publicista Šem-Tov Semo. Más allá de la importancia que tienen
estas traducciones para la historia de la creación literaria en judeoespañol y el conocimiento de su tradición bibliográfica, la autora realiza en este trabajo una cala sobre la manera de cómo trabaja el traductor el contenido de los originales
lehmannianos para hacerlos más accesibles al público sefardí vienés y para que cumplieran de esta manera con su función, que no era otra que la de instruir a la familia sefardí deleitándola
