    Faculty of Biotechnology invited Professor Dr. Wen- Chien Lee to give a seminar under the topic “Functional inclusion bodies over-expressed in Escherichia coli on 23rd September, 2016 at Assumption University, Hua Mak campus. Prof. Dr. Wen-Chien Lee is professor in Department of Chemical Engineering and Director of Systems Biology and Tissue Engineering Research Center at National Chung Cheng University. In past three years, he has been a President of the Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan (BEST) and deputy secretary general of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). He has published 98 international journal papers, book chapters and holding many international patents. His current research interests are proteomics, biomagnetic particles, production of proteins and biomass-based chemicals. There was about 35 participants attended the seminar including undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty members. Prof. Dr. Wen-Chien Lee also proposed to set up future collaborations in term of research and academic with Faculty of Biotechnology, Assumption University

    [[abstract]]The Effect of Wai Tan Kung Exercise on Energy Expenditure And Heart Rate Variability Graduate student: Cheng-Kun Wu Advisor: Cheng-Chung Lin ,Ph.D. Abstract The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of long-term Wai Tan Kung exercise on heart rate (HR), energy expenditure, oxygen uptake (VO2), ventilation (VE), heart rate variability and blood pressure. Two different groups of older adults were recruited. One group subjects (n =16; 65.0 ± 4.2 yrs, 163.3 ± 7.3 cm, 63.3 ± 7.3 kg) had been participated at least 10 years of regular Wai Tan Kung exercise (long-term group, LTG), and the other (n = 16; 59.0 ± 3.7 yrs, 162.0 ± 3.9 cm, 65.7 ± 3.6 kg) had been participated as same exercise as LTG but less than one year (short-term group, STG). The results of this study showed that there were significant differences (p < .05) in rest systolic pressure, and HR, energy expenditure, VO2, VE, high frequency power (HFP) and low frequency power (LFP) during exercise between LTG and STG (p < .05). LTG subjects had a significant lower in rest heart rate and blood pressure (p < .05) than STG subjects, and the former also reached higher (p < .05) exercise intensities during exercise testing than the latter. Moreover, there were significant higher heart rate, VO2 and VE during exercise testing for LTG than STG, suggesting that LTG subjects had higher metabolic rate. Additionally, LTG had a higher HFP than STG, suggesting that there was a significant increase in parasympathetic division of autonomic nervous activity during exercise testing for LTG than STG, indicating LTG subjects may prevent from coronary artery disease and improve functions of the heart. It is concluded that older adults participate in regular long-term of Wai Tan Kung exercise have a positive effect on their cardiovascular fitness. Therefore, such kind of exercise may especially fit for older adults. Key words: oxygen uptake (VO2), ventilation (VE), heart rate, heart rate variability, Wai Tan Kung exercise.

    INDONESIA: Fuzzy Time Series merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk meramalkan data. Fuzzy Time Series merupakan pengembangan dari analisis time series, dimana Fuzzy Time Series menggunakan konsep himpunan fuzzy sebagai dasar dari perhitungannya. Fuzzy Time Series memiliki berbagai metode seperti Cheng dan Lee. Dalam penelitian ini Fuzzy Time Series digunakan untuk meramalkan data perkembangan harga cabai rawit di Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan kedua metode tersebut kemudian dilakukan analisis tingkat akurasi menggunakan beberapa metode. Sehingga diperoleh hasil dalam penelitian ini yaitu nilai MAE untuk metode Cheng 669,162 dan metode Lee 502,285, nilai MSE metode Cheng 1.261.393 dan metode Lee 699.030,1, nilai MPE metode Cheng 0,01% dan metode Lee -0,02%, dan nilai MAPE metode Cheng 1,24% dan metode Lee 0.92% diperoleh metode Lee memiliki nilai error yang lebih kecil dari metode Cheng, sehingga metode Lee dinyatakan lebih baik dari metode Cheng. ENGLISH: Fuzzy Time Series is a method used to predict data. Fuzzy Time Series is a development of time series analysis, where Fuzzy Time Series uses the concept of fuzzy sets as the basis for its calculations. In addition, Fuzzy Time Series has various methods such as Cheng and Lee Fuzzy Time Series. In this study, Fuzzy Time Series is used to predict data on the price development of cayenne pepper in Indonesia. By using these two methods, an analysis of the level of accuracy is then carried out using several methods. So that the results obtained in this study are the MAE value of the Cheng method 669,162 and the Lee method 502,285, the MSE value of the Cheng method 1.261.393 and the Lee method 699.030.1, the MPE value of the Cheng method 0,01% and the Lee method -0,02%, and The MAPE value of the Cheng method is 1,24% and the Lee method is 0.92%. The Lee method has a smaller error value than the Cheng method, so that the Lee method is declared to be better than the Cheng method. ARABIC: السلاسل الزمنية الضبابية هي طريقة تستخدم للتنبؤ بالبيانات. السلاسل الزمنية الضبابية عبارة عن تطوير لتحليل السلاسل الزمنية ، حيث تستخدم السلاسل الزمنية الضبابية مفهوم المجموعات الغامضة كأساس لحساباتها. تحتوي السلسلة الزمنية الضبابية على طرق مختلفة مثل تشنغ و لي .في هذه الدراسة ، يتم استخدام السلسلة الزمنية الضبابية للتنبؤ بالبيانات المتعلقة بتطور أسعار فلفل حريف في إندونيسيا. باستخدام هاتين الطريقتين ، يتم إجراء تحليل لمستوى الدقة باستخدام عدة طرق. بحيث تكون النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها في هذه الدراسة هي قيمة MAE لطريقة تشنغ 669,162 وطريقة لي 502,285 وقيمة MSE لطريقة تشنغ 1.261.393 وطريقة لي 699.030,1 وقيمة MPE لطريقة تشنغ 0,01% وطريقة لي -0.02% ، وقيمة MAPE لطريقة تشنغ هي 1,24% وطريقة لي 0,92% . طريقة لي لها قيمة خطأ أصغر من طريقة تشنغ، بحيث يتم إعلان أن طريقة لي أفضل من طريقة تشنغ
