Adaptation of laser particle size analyzer LAU-11 for measuring the concentration of PM10 and PM2,5 in the dust
Laserowy analizator uziarnienia LAU-11 swą historią sięga lat osiemdziesiątych XX w., a dokładniej konstrukcji granulometru laserowego GL-04, opracowanego w Zakładzie Urządzeń i Pomiarów Cieplnych Instytutu Mineralnych Materiałów Budowlanych [1-3]. Laser particle size analyzer LAU-11 began its history in the late 80’s on the design of the instrument GL-04, developed in the Department of Plant and Thermal Measurements IMMB [1] to [3]. GL-04 had a range of 3 to 90 mim divided into 6 factions and was supported by a microcomputer ZX Spectrum Plus. Measurement of scattered light in the spectrum was performed at 10 points in the spectrum. Other structures were the enlargement of measurement range and increasing the number of fractions. In this way, the resulting structures Laser particle size analyzer LAU-11 and LAU-14 to 16-light detectors and range from about 1 micrometer to 200 mim. The difference between the LAU-11 and LAU-14 design was based in the head. LAU-11 has a head composed of discrete components – phototransistors, the first four detectors (closest to the optical axis) are equipped with optical fibers of internal diameter 0,25 mm. Sensing element in the LAU-14 is composed and the CCD line a measurement of 512 pixels, which are used 16 parts. Was produced over a dozen instruments and GL-04 Laser particle size analyzers LAU-11 and LAU-14. In Opole Branch of the Institute’s LAU-11

Inner amenability of Lau algebras
summary:A concept of amenability for an arbitrary Lau algebra called inner amenability is introduced and studied. The inner amenability of a discrete semigroup is characterized by the inner amenability of its convolution semigroup algebra. Also, inner amenable Lau algebras are characterized by several equivalent statements which are similar analogues of properties characterizing left amenable Lau algebras

Nowe spojrzenie na planowanie architektury mieszkaniowej w afryce subsaharyjskiej
The author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.
Simultaneous Space Charge and Current Density Assessment in Additive-free LDPE under HVDC Condition
This paper presents the investigation into the electrical conduction properties of LDPE with electrode materials effect. Space charge and current measurement were monitored at two different applied electric fields. It was achieved using the Pulsed Electro-acoustic (PEA) technique on a newly constructed system, which is capable of quantifying space charge and current simultaneously in a planar sample. Tests were carried out with additive-free Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) films under dc electric field at 30°C in a temperature-controlled environment. Aluminum (Al) and Semicon (Sc) were used for the electrode materials. The homocharges observed is alleged to be initiated from charge injection across the electrode/LDPE interfaces; this is ascribed to Schottky injection. Here, heterocharges spotted are developed when one of the electrodes partly blocks the extraction of charges injected by the other. The amount of charges injected into the bulk depends on the barrier height between the electrode/ LDPE interface, when the same material is exposed to different polarities, the barrier height also differ, therefore a contrasting feature of charges was exhibited
Simultaneous space charge and conduction current measurements in solid dielectrics under high dc electric field
The importance of space charge in solid dielectrics has been recognized for many years and various attempts have been made to map the distribution and assess its influence on the electrical performance of solid dielectrics. Significant development in non-destructive measurement techniques emerged two decades ago. Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) has been used for ac power cable insulation up to 500 kV for many years. There is a tendency to use XLPE for dc power cable. However, the easy formation of space charge under dc electric field within XLPE is a major concern for such an application. Space charge in insulation can distort electric field distribution, causing electric field increase in one region and reduction in another. The electric field enhancement could lead to degradation and result in premature failure. Electrical treeing in solid dielectrics is a typical example of local field enhancement due to space charge accumulation. In this report several popular non-destructive techniques are briefly reviewed. This is followed by detailed description of a modified pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) technique that allows simultaneous measurement of space charge and conduction current in a solid dielectric subjected to high dc electric fields. Finally, we report the relationship between space charge dynamics and electrical conduction current in XLPE using the modified PEA system. The effect of electrode material on both charge dynamics and current has been investigated using semiconducting material and aluminium. It has been found charge dynamics in the material depend on electrode configuration. More importantly, it has been noticed that the so called space charge limited transient current peaks are closely related to the meetings of negative and positive charge front in the bulk of the sample
The influence of temperature on electrical conduction and space charge in LDPE
Electrical conduction processes in polymeric materials are very much temperature dependent. Using the improved Pulsed Electro-acoustic (PEA) system that is capable of measuring the external current and charge density concurrently under a controlled temperature environment, we have carried out tests on additive-free low density Polyethylene (LDPE) at a constant voltage and various different temperatures. The results clearly showed that the temperature affects charges behaviour in the sample
